Job summary

The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) in Montreal, QC, invites applications for a part-time, on-call animal care position in the Animal Resources Division. You will perform husbandry tasks, manage records, and assist with inventory and equipment to support research activities.

Fluency in French is required and a basic working knowledge of English is expected due to regular interactions with researchers and international students.

• Knowledge of French is required.
• A basic knowledge of oral and written English is required, as the position requires regular contact with researchers or international students who are exclusively proficient in English.
• Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to prioritize work.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to adapt and effectively perform in different work environments.
• Excellent organizational skills in managing multiple priorities, multi-tasking and prioritizing for time-sensitive issues and working under minimal supervision.
• Proficient French and English spoken and written.
• Previous experience working with animals is an asset.

RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF THE MUHC

The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) is a world-renowned biomedical and hospital research centre. Located in Montreal, Quebec, the Institute is the research arm of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at McGill University. The RI-MUHC is supported in part by the Fonds de recherche du Québec - Santé (FRQS).

Position Summary

Under the general supervision of the Animal Resources Division Manager, the candidate performs animal care-related duties, technical procedures and administrative duties related to the care and use of laboratory animals on various sites of the RI-MUHC.

Additional information

Status

Temporary Occasional Part-time (on call), hours per week will vary according to the need of the division. Training offered at start of employment requiring a minimum of 2 consecutive weeks of in-week (Mon-Fri, 35 hours/week) availability.

Pay Scale

$23.40 to $35.12/ hour. Commensurate with qualifications and experience

Work Shift

starts at 7 a.m. (Saturday and/or Sunday, and/or holidays, and vacation replacements)
