Overview
We’re seeking an experiencedAnalytics Engineerto join a growing analytics engineering organization supporting a large Canadian enterprise across multiple business domains, including food services, healthcare, and hospitality operations.
The successful candidate will primarily supportfinancial close initiativesinvolvingPoint-of-Sale (POS)andpayment vendor data. Working closely with Finance, Technology, Project Management, and Data Engineering teams, you will help ensure accurate, timely, and trusted financial reporting used by operators and business leaders across Canada. The analytics engineering organization consists of approximately16–17 analytics engineersand operates within a collaborative matrix structure that emphasizes knowledge sharing, best practices, mentorship, and innovation.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and optimize data transformation pipelines usingdbt.
- Design and implement scalable dimensional and analytical data models.
- Work withSnowflakedata assets to transform raw and curated data into trusted reporting datasets.
- Support financial close processes by delivering accurate and validated payment and POS reporting data.
- Build and maintain data quality checks, testing frameworks, and validation processes.
- Investigate and troubleshoot data quality issues, transformation failures, and reporting discrepancies.
- Collaborate with Finance, Analytics, Technology, Project Management, and Data Engineering teams to understand requirements and deliver solutions.
- Partner with Data Engineers responsible for data ingestion and source integrations.
- Participate in code reviews, peer reviews, and version control best practices.
- Document transformation logic, data models, lineage, and technical processes.
- Contribute to analytics engineering standards and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Participate in team standups, knowledge-sharing sessions, and biweekly show-and-share meetings.
Required Skills
- 3+ years of experience in Analytics Engineering, Data Engineering, Business Intelligence Engineering, or a related field.
- StrongSQLexpertise with proven experience building and maintaining complex data models.
- Hands‑on experience withdbt (Data Build Tool).
- Strong understanding of data modeling, data warehousing concepts, and analytics engineering best practices.
- Experience working with cloud data warehouse platforms such asSnowflake, Azure Synapse, Redshift, or similar technologies.
- Experience usingGit(or other version control systems) in a collaborative development environment.
- Experience participating in code reviews and peer review processes.
- Exceptional attention to detail and data accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities across various business initiatives.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Willingness to ask questions, challenge assumptions, and provide realistic feedback regarding timelines and requirements.
- Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment.
Nice to Have Skills
- Familiarity withApache Airflowor similar orchestration tools.
- Experience with AI-powered development tools such as Cursor, AI Agents, GitHub Copilot, or similar technologies.
- Experience supporting financial reporting, payment processing, POS systems, or financial close processes.
- Experience in large enterprise environments with multiple business domains.
