Job summary

LGC Standards in Canada is seeking an Analytical Chemist to join our quality-focused team. You will conduct experiments to characterize products, build precise result records, and interpret data under stringent documentation guidelines.

The role requires strong NMR and MS knowledge, hands-on experience with analytical instrumentation, and excellent communication and time management skills. A BSc or MSc in chemistry is expected, with opportunities for professional growth within the TRC and LGC

Qualifications

  • Bachelor or Master of Science in organic or analytical chemistry.
  • Strong knowledge of NMR and MS; familiar with analytical techniques.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and time management.
  • Ability to handle multiple initiatives concurrently and work under pressure.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct experiments to characterize products efficiently and conserve resources.
  • Initiate daily analyses with integrity and timeliness.
  • Build Analytical Result Records accurately and promptly.
  • Interpret results per procedures and maintain strict documentation.
  • Investigate non-conformances in NMR, MS, HPLC/GC, and CHN.
  • Analyze data to identify out-of-spec results.
  • Maintain and calibrate instruments as part of routine checks.

Position

Analytical Chemist

What you’ll do
  • Conduct experiments to accurately characterise products while also ensuring effective usage of resources
  • Initiate the analysis of products daily with integrity, accuracy, and efficiency within encouraged timelines
  • Build Analytical Result Records in a high quality, accurate and timely fashion
  • Interpret and report analysis results in accordance with applicable procedures while adhering to strict guidelines of documentation and reporting
  • Perform basic depth of analysis to interpret non-conformance results arising in NMR, MS, HPLC/GC, and CHN due to bulk impurity and/or mishandling
  • Analyze data acquired and identify out-of-specification (OOS) results
  • Participate in routine maintenance and calibration of instruments
Qualifications
  • Good theoretical and practical knowledge of NMR and MS and analytical methodology and separation techniques
  • Proven knowledge and experience using analytical techniques and instrumentation
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication and time management
  • Very good analytical skills with high attention to detail
  • Self‑starter; task oriented with ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously
  • Strong problem‑solving skills
  • Good at handling stress and outstanding interpersonal skills
  • Bachelor or Master of Science degree in organic chemistry, bioorganic chemistry or similar technical program with an emphasis on analytical chemistry
Pay Range

Minimum: CAD $47,000 / yearly

Maximum: CAD $50,000 / yearly
