About the Role
As our successful Senior Tax Analyst, you will be reporting to the Tax Manager and will be responsible for the following:
- Assist with setting-up new end-to-end indirect tax processes as part of cross-functional projects to scale with the business
- Review of commercial contracts with new partners to determine tax implications in applicable jurisdictions
- Prepare Canadian indirect tax returns, and related tax remittances
- Analyze and prepare tax account balances/reconciliations and prepare all tax journal entries
- Assist with international indirect, Federal Excise Tax, and other tax compliance procedures and coordinate with external consultants as needed to ensure deadlines are met
- Assist with government tax audits and routine desk reviews by gathering and preparing all necessary documentation and correspondence
- Assist with research, data analysis and assigned projects and other duties as assigned
- Keep current on relevant federal, provincial and foreign statutory/regulatory and/or technology changes to identify and make recommendations to senior management on any tax issues and implement necessary changes to maintain best practices
You Are Someone With
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Taxation or related field preferred
- Professional designation - CPA preferred
- 2 to 3 years of tax experience with a Big 4 Accounting Firm
- Should have Canadian income tax experience, working knowledge of HST/QST filings and experience corresponding with the CRA and Revenu Québec
- Knowledge of international tax regulations is an asset
- Fluency in French is an asset
- Experience with e-commerce and other tech industries is an asset
- Experience conducting tax research
- Self-motivated, goal oriented individual with strong organizational skills who can prioritize work in order to meet tight and competing deadlines
- Ability to evaluate, analyze and problem solve a variety of tasks to ensure timely and accurate completion
- Proactive in identifying and resolving issues
- Strong interpersonal skills and communication skills
- Strong proficiency with MS Word, Excel (Pivot Tables and V-Lookups) and tax technology
