PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

The purpose of the Analyst, Revenue Accounting & Reporting is to account for, analyze, and report on CPKC’s revenues to ensure complete and accurate financial results for internal stakeholders and the investor community. They will work closely with other members of Finance, Sales and Marketing, and Investor Relations and will be responsible for the completion of accounting and/or reporting processes to reflect revenue generating activities. The role will also work to further develop reports to aid in the analysis of year-over-year performance trends and their impact on internal and external commentary.

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Assist with the accounting, analysis, and forecasting of other freight and non-freight revenue
  • Engage and support various business stakeholders in completing the accounting and reporting for revenues and related activities
  • Develop and validate monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting that illustrates year-over-year demand, yield, and other key metrics Report weekly metrics on CPKC’s external website
  • Prepare external financial disclosures within the quarterly Management Discussion and Analysis and Annual Report Monitor data integrity to ensure consistent reporting
  • Assist in identifying and implementing process improvements and data maintenance to achieve business objectives that could be technical in nature

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of 1 year of post-graduate work experience in accounting, either in a firm or industry setting
  • Registered (or in the process of registering) for CPA training
  • Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret complex information and extract key insights to bridge the gap between analytics and business understanding
  • Strong computer skills, including advanced proficiency in Microsoft Exce

Management Conductor Program
