Job description
Analyst Performance & Attribution Solutions
Connor Clark & Lunn Financial Group Ltd.

Toronto, ON

Connor Clark & Lunn Financial Group (CC&L FG) is seeking an Analyst or Senior Analyst to join our Performance and Attribution Solutions Team (PAS). Our team focuses on delivering post‑trade analytics to stakeholders and collaborating with affiliates to enhance their investment processes through value‑add analytics. We are a team of professionals who engage with all levels of the organization, including direct interactions with our Portfolio Managers.

We place high value on maintaining an entrepreneurial spirit and creating a culture where each of us has opportunities to succeed. We are a stakeholder‑centric and solution‑oriented team seeking like‑minded individuals who thrive in a challenging and dynamic environment.

What You Will Do

We create and provide analytics to measure the outcome of investment decisions. Our analytics provide insights for internal and external stakeholders who receive our data through a variety of channels. The core analytic categories include performance attribution, risk and portfolio characteristics as well as other investment analytics that are critical to understanding the investment outcome. We have several tools and systems in place to aid us, but understanding investment strategies/mandates and post‑trade analytics is key to ensure reporting is done accurately. The job will typically have a good balance between scheduled tasks, ad‑hoc requests/problem solving and continuous process improvement in both independent and collaborative settings. Our analysts are empowered to thrive as process owners with both the freedom and responsibility that comes with delegation.

  • Investment performance calculations, attribution analysis, analytics and portfolio risk reporting across public/private asset classes.
  • Support sales and marketing requests and provide data for RFPs and DDQs.
  • Research, propose and maintain performance measurement and attribution methodologies for existing and new products.
  • Develop and manage relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide analytical problem solving and troubleshooting.
  • Identify process improvements and leverage best practices across the team.
  • Understand new products and ensure proper reporting is in place.
What You Bring
  • Critical thinking: approach problems with a curious and critical mindset.
  • Excellent communicator, both verbal and written. Ability to express ideas, explain analytics/methodologies and lead solution‑oriented discussions with a wide range of audiences.
  • Collaborative spirit that helps you work well with others and communicate effectively.
  • Self‑motivated: passion for advancing the quality, scale and efficiency of data processes and ability to take ownership of multiple processes with keen attention to detail.
  • Continuous process‑improvement mindset: constant critical eye to processes with the goal of finding improvement opportunities and ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Problem solver: possess an analytical mindset and can detect patterns to solve problems.
  • Technology savvy: pick up new systems and tools quickly; advanced computer skills with emphasis on MS Excel and Power BI, and desire to learn basic database query languages.
  • Education: Undergraduate degree in business mathematics or a related field; also enrolled (or considering enrollment) in the CFA or CIPM program.
  • Industry knowledge: 1–5 years experience in the investment management industry or comparable; direct experience with investment analytics or performance measurement is an asset.
