Job Summary

Reporting to the Manager, Pension Accounting Operations, the Analyst is responsible for the overall administration and financial integrity of the pension contributions function. As the primary operational owner of this area, the Analyst is accountable for ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of contribution-related financial activities, maintaining effective controls, resolving operational and financial exceptions, and driving continuous improvements that support exceptional service delivery to members and employers.

What You Will Do
  • Execute the Daily Financial Activities (DFA) workflow, including validation, reconciliation, and processing of daily banking files and related financial transactions. Ensure that all exceptions are thoroughly investigated, resolved promptly, and documented in accordance with established controls and procedures.
  • Track, monitor, and manage open cash receipts, invoices, unmatched transactions, and other outstanding contribution-related items. Identify aging items, recurring exceptions, control gaps, and operational risks; investigate root causes, coordinate resolution with stakeholders, and elevate significant or unresolved matters as appropriate.
  • Drive continuous improvement of the pension contributions area through process optimization, standardization, strengthened controls, and technology-enabled solutions. Leverage reporting, automation, and AI-enabled tools, and data analysis techniques to improve operational effectiveness, reduce manual effort, and enhance decision-making.
  • Build and maintain advanced expertise in pension contribution accounting processes. Serve as a key resource to Pension Services and business partners by resolving operational inquiries and recommending solutions that improve service outcomes for employers and members.
  • Develop and enhance operational procedures, process documentation, and knowledge resources to support consistency, compliance, business continuity, and effective knowledge transfer across the team.
  • Provide cross-functional support and backup coverage for critical operational processes, including pension payroll processing, contribution refund, and benefit overpayment recovery activities, ensuring business continuity and the timely, accurate completion of key pension payment transactions.
  • Ensure contribution-related transactions are accurately recorded and reconciled to the general ledger and subsidiary systems, investigating discrepancies and supporting month-end, year-end, audit, and financial reporting requirements.
What You Bring
  • Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related discipline. A combination of education and relevant experience will also be considered.
  • Minimum 2-4 years of experience in pension administration, pension accounting, financial operations, payroll processing, banking operations, or a related financial services environment.
  • Experience performing reconciliations, transaction processing, and exception management within a high-volume, deadline-driven environment.
  • Knowledge of pension plans, retirement benefits administration, or financial services operations is considered an asset.
  • Experience working with pension administration systems, payroll applications, banking platforms, or other financial processing systems.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and collaboration tools, including Excel, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, and Power BI.
  • Experience leveraging AI-enabled tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot or similar technologies) to improve productivity, streamline processes, analyze data, and support documentation and knowledge management.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate discrepancies, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions.
  • Strong understanding of financial controls, reconciliation practices, risk mitigation, and accountability for the integrity of financial data.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to delivering accurate, high-quality work.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and consistently meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to independently plan, prioritize, and execute work.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex information clearly to a variety of stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to build collaborative relationships and work effectively across teams to achieve shared objectives.
  • Continuous improvement mindset, with a focus on enhancing processes, strengthening controls, and delivering operational excellence.
