What Youll Be Doing

As an Analyst Investment Banking you will provide a broad range of analytical research and presentation preparation support to all the professionals within the group. You will be assigned to a variety of transactions and advisory projects such as mergers & acquisitions, divestitures, equity and debt financing, and strategic advisory projects. As part of CIBC's Financials and Private Capital group, you will gain exposure working with CIBC's top financial institution and private capital clients and collaborate with individuals from various groups across the firm.

The role of an Analyst is challenging and fast-paced. It requires dedication, passion for the industry, and a very solid work ethic. You must be able to accept flexibility in required personal time commitments to complete work assignments.

How Youll Succeed

Relationship Building: Leverage your technical and industry knowledge, as well as the geopolitical environment, to generate ideas and opportunities. Coordinate client-focused and deal-focused brainstorming sessions with relevant team members and product specialists. Develop relationships and actively communicate with various contacts. Maintain an internal network with product groups and other business units, and an external network with market stakeholders. Support CIBC's image through community involvement.

Client Engagement: Play an active role in executing client mandates. Conduct due diligence activities, present findings internally, develop investor presentation materials, and participate in marketing activities. Collaborate with legal advisors, accountants, auditors, and other stakeholders. Manage information and communication flow on deal teams.

Collaborative Skills: Develop and leverage relationships with clients and internal/external partners. Exhibit strong written and verbal communication skills to explain complex technical and conceptual issues. Uphold professionalism, ethics, and exercise sound judgment in business decisions.

Who You Are

You have relevant education. Prior experience in corporate finance, investment banking, or private equity, along with CA, CPA, or CFA designations, is an asset.

You are detail-oriented, highly dedicated, motivated, and capable of assuming responsibility quickly.

You are technically proficient, with excellent analytical skills, knowledge of valuation techniques, accounting principles, and familiarity with tools like Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Bloomberg, and FactSet.

You value integrity, teamwork, and accountability, and bring your authentic self to work.
