Job summary

Synopsys Inc. in Ottawa and Mississauga seeks an experienced Analog Design Engineer to develop and evaluate analog blocks for SOCs, and to drive performance through simulations, reviews, and cross-functional collaboration.

The candidate should hold an M.A.Sc. with 8+ years or PhD with 6+ years in analog circuit design, with expertise in op-amps, bandgaps, current mirrors, and CAD tools, plus strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Qualifications

  • M.A.Sc. with 8+ years or PhD with 6+ years in analog circuit design.
  • Experience with op-amps, current mirrors, and bandgaps is required.
  • Proficiency with CAD tools for analog circuit design and simulation.
  • Knowledge of design for reliability (EM, IR, aging).
  • Knowledge of layout effects (matching, reliability, proximity effects).
  • Experience with FinFET and Gate-All-Around technologies.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Designing and developing common analog building blocks for use in SERDES, DDR, and memory.
  • Conduct simulations and verify the performance of analog circuits to meet design specs.
  • Identify and refine circuit design to optimize power, area, and performance.
  • Collaborate with product design and layout teams to ensure designs meet customer needs.
  • Perform design reviews and provide technical guidance to junior engineers.
  • Contribute to development of design methodologies and best practices to improve efficiency and quality.

You are adept at collaborating with cross-functional teams, communicating complex technical concepts effectively, and continuously seeking to expand your knowledge and expertise in the field of analog design.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Designing and developing common analog building blocks for use in SERDES, DDR, and memory.

What You’ll Need
  • M.A.Sc. with 8+ years or PhD with 6+ years of relevant experience in analog circuit design.
  • Experience with op-amps, current mirrors, and bandgaps required. Familiarity with SERDES PHY architecture and/or DDR memory is strongly desired.
  • Proficiency in using CAD tools for analog circuit design and simulation.
  • Knowledge of design for reliability (i.e. EM, IR, aging, etc.).
  • Knowledge of layout effects (i.e. matching, reliability, proximity effects, etc.), experience with layout design.
  • Experience with FinFET and Gate-All-Around technologies.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey technical concepts clearly and effectively.
