THE OPPORTUNITY

The Red Hook Community Resilience Corps is an AmeriCorps National Service Program that seeks to make Red Hook a safer, stronger and a more resilient community for individuals ages 18+. AmeriCorps members are part of our unconventional programs and services throughout the Center that engage residents and promote public safety. Members work directly with community members to provide services and referrals to address needs centered on economic mobility, housing issues and many other areas. Furthermore, members will also perform service projects throughout the neighborhood and by the end of their service year, members will gain the skills needed to plan and execute their own project.

The Youth and Community Initiatives (YCI) Department is seeking an AmeriCorps Team Leader. Reporting to the AmeriCorps Coordinator, the AmeriCorps Team Leader will assist the AmeriCorps Coordinator in enhancing member experience and engagement. AmeriCorps is a national service program that has been active in Red Hook for over 25 years and played a crucial role in the establishment of the Red Hook Community Justice Center. The AmeriCorps Team Leader will collaborate closely with the coordinator to plan and execute service days, seeking opportunities for the cohort to make a positive impact in the community.

AVAILABILITY

The start date for this position is December 1, 2025, with an end date of September 30, 2026. Applicants must be available to commit to serve 30 hours a week, Monday to Friday between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. with occasional evenings and weekends.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist with the outreach, recruitment and professional development training of cohort members;
• Assist with providing individualized support and coaching to participants, including one-on-one and group sessions to build resiliency, self‑sufficiency, self‑esteem and work toward personal goals;
• Lead the planning and implementation of Service Projects for the AmeriCorps cohort that focus on program performance measures and program needs;
• Develop strategies to enhance the overall experience of AmeriCorps members;
• Collaborate with the AmeriCorps Coordinator to ensure that member support is being provided and is available to AmeriCorps members;
• Mentor, guide, and teach team members in all aspects of their field experience, including technical skills development, service learning, office skills, and team dynamics;
• Promote a culture of safety within the AmeriCorps team;
• Lead the strategic planning with AmeriCorps cohort to create program goals and deliverables;
• Strengthen community partnerships with external organizations to host events, service projects, resource fairs, and workshops;
• Represent the program at community meetings, conferences, fairs and events;
• Establish and maintain relationships with community organizations, educational institutions and potential program partners;
• Communicate with various departments in the Red Hook Community Justice Center to gather success stories, information about community events, and details about workshops held, for AmeriCorps monthly newsletter;
• Keep detailed and up-to-date information on internal data systems and provide frequent updates to the AmeriCorps Coordinator;
• Search for professional development opportunities that can benefit the AmeriCorps team, creating a list of resources and referrals that can assist them in their “Life After AmeriCorps”;
• Provide administrative support for AmeriCorps and YCI programming;
• Provide support for the AmeriCorps team's outreach efforts as needed;
• Additional tasks, as necessary
