Job summary

KF Aerospace is seeking an AME Mechanic Apprentice to assist on line and shop maintenance under a Licensed AME. The role emphasizes safe procedures, adherence to CAMs and manuals, and developing technical skills across aircraft systems.

You will prepare tasks, read drawings, and participate in basic troubleshooting while working on a rotating 3-week shift schedule. Competitive benefits apply as you advance toward licensure.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from a Transport Canada accredited ‘Approved Aircraft Maintenance M Program’.
  • Basic computer skills and the ability to read manuals and drawings.
  • Able to work safely with basic hand tools and read technical documentation.
  • Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and the ability to work in a team.

Responsibilities

  • Assist on line and shop maintenance under a Licensed AME’s supervision.
  • Complete tasks in a timely manner and ensure quality of work.
  • Engage in basic troubleshooting and report unserviceable conditions to the Crew Chief.
  • Follow safety practices and documentation processes for ACA approval.
  • Work 40 hours per week on rotating shifts and travel as required.

JOB OVERVIEW

The AME Mechanic Apprentice assists on line and shop maintenance in a safe and efficient manner and in compliance with the Canadian Aviation Regulations and KF Aerospace maintenance manuals and procedures.

Project Maintenance:

The Mechanic Apprentice works under a Licensed AME’s supervision on line and heavy maintenance projects, involving:

  • Showing ability to retain information and apply learning’s to similar situations
  • Completing assigned tasks in a timely manner
  • Taking responsibility for quality of own work and fixing mistakes where required
  • Engaging in basic trouble shooting on assigned task
  • Reporting to the Crew Chief any unserviceable condition discovered
Demonstrated Technical Skills:

The Mechanic Apprentice is expected to be able to demonstrate their capability to perform the following technical functions

  • Layout of basic SRM repair with minimal assistance
  • Learn to thoroughly understand systems such as air conditioning, hydraulics, engines, flight controls, landing gear, avionics, electrical generation, oxygen, fuel, pneumatics on multiple aircraft
  • Able to inspect and identify defects
  • Able to find and read applicable drawings
  • Basic troubleshooting knowledge
Safety:

The Mechanic Apprentice is expected to apply safe work practices in all job duties, including:

  • Wearing all appropriate personal protective equipment
  • Understanding and applying the company’s Risk Management System
  • Understanding and applying safe handling practices with the aircraft
Documentation:

The Mechanic Apprentice is responsible to become familiar with general KF Aerospace paperwork and parts ordering, which involves:

  • Ensuring appropriate documentation is complete and submitting to an endorsed AME or Crew Chief for ACA approval
REQUIREMENTS
  • Graduation from a Transport Canada accredited “Approved Aircraft Maintenance M Program”
  • Must be able to obtain and retain a Transport Canada Airport Pass
  • Basic computer skills
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to work safely with basic hand tools
  • Able to read technical manuals and drawings
  • Positive attitude and strong work ethic
  • Able to work effectively independently and as part of a team
  • Able to take direction from others
  • Quick learner
  • Ability to work 40 hours a week in a rotating shift-work environment
  • Ability to travel, as required
  • Must be physically fit
HOURS OF WORK

This is a shift work position which will require you to work days, evenings, and weekends. KF Aerospace works on a 3-week rotating shift schedule

As an AME Mechanic Apprentice with KF Aerospace you can start a rewarding career with a team of people who are passionate about their craft. The position starts at $24.58 with bi-annual performance and wage reviews. An employee can increase their wage up to $31.21 as an Apprentice before obtaining their Transport Canada License.

Apprentices are expected to work towards filling out their Logbook & achieving their Transport Canada license. Once you have achieved your Transport Canada License, your wage will increase to $38.03 per hour with room to grow into Senior AME & Shift Lead roles. You are also eligible to receive $2/hour endorsement pay once an ACA is issued.
