What YOU will do:
- Perform a broad range of core aircraft maintenance duties
- Act as lead for a team of AMEs and AME Apprentices through ongoing support, encouragement and guidance, ensuring that all assigned work is completed in a timely and efficient manner
- Manage team performance including conducting regular performance reviews and developing performance improvement plans as needed
- Monitor work and staff resourcing balance for best utilization
- Provide ongoing support, mentorship and development to AME and Apprentice staff to uphold a high standard of maintenance
- Notify the Technical Manager of any abnormalities occurring with regards to their aircraft
- Ensure detailed, smooth handover at end of shift rotation for work continuity
- Conduct administrative work including updating workflow tracking system daily, reviewing and approving time sheets to work orders
- Oversee the cleanliness and order of hangars and workshops
- Validate that work performed is in accordance with company and all regulatory requirements including health and safety policies and practices
- Provide feedback and resolutions to management regarding issues from the hangar
- Must be available to provide occasional support outside regular business hours as needed
- Performs other duties as assigned
What you bring:
- A valid AME M2 license for a minimum of 5 years; previous lead, chief and/or supervisory experience required
- Experience in aircraft periodic inspections and heavy inspections
- Must qualify for a RAIC and AVOP Pass
- Must possess a valid Ontario driver’s license with a clean driver abstract
- A “leader’ approach, you are respectful and fair and able to work effectively with a wide range of team members to successfully execute a variety of work activities
- Strong communication skills (interpersonal, listening, verbal and written)
- Proficient in MS Office (e.g. Excel, Word, Outlook) and ability to leverage internal systems and databases to conduct work
- Experience performing a wide variety of tasks
- Strong ability to read, understand and interpret technical publications, maintenance manuals, service bulletins, technical drawings and blueprints
- Solid diagnostic skills combined with ability to perform hands-on tasks such as disassembling aircraft systems, removal of defective components and installing replacement parts, components and structures
- Flexible, professional, ethical and commitment to excellence
- Strong capacity to learn quickly, work under pressure to meet tight deadlines
- Solid time management and project management skills
- Ability to work mainly rotational shifts 5-5-4 with flexibility to work overtime, weekends on short notice; some travel required
- Physical requirements include: climbing into and under various aircraft. Able to walk around, stand, crouch, for long periods of time. Able to lift up to 75lbs
