There are two facets to our business, one being TEChnical Building Products which is a 2-Step Distribution Building Products company selling directly to wholesalers, building products dealers, multi-line yards, and gypsum specialty dealers. The other end of our business being TEC Agencies which is an independent manufacturer’s representative that works directly with Architects, Specification Writers, and the Design Community.

Job Description

We are seeking a driven and experienced Outside Sales Representative to manage and grow our customer base throughout Alberta. This role focuses on selling building materials through gypsum supply dealers, building product distributors, and lumber yards. The ideal candidate brings a strong understanding of the construction supply chain and a proven ability to develop trusted customer relationships in a competitive market.

This is a remote-based position that requires regular travel across the province.

Key Responsibilities
  • Account Management & Development
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing accounts.
    • Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the assigned territory.
    • Conduct regular in-person visits to accounts to strengthen relationships and understand customer needs.
    • Attend monthly events (ABEC, Supply-Build, CSC).
  • Sales & Revenue Generation
    • Drive sales growth through lumberyards, building products dealers, and multi-line yards.
    • Meet or exceed sales targets and key performance metrics.
    • Deliver product presentations and demonstrations on a weekly basis.
  • Territory & Pipeline Management
    • Maintain a solid understanding of the local market, competitors, pricing, and trends.
    • Provide regular sales forecasts, call reports, and updates to management.
  • Customer Support & Product Expertise
    • Serve as a knowledgeable resource for all product lines.
    • Assist customers with product selection, inventory needs, and technical support.
    • Coordinate with internal teams (logistics, credit, customer service) to ensure smooth order fulfillment.
Qualifications
  • 3–5 years of successful outside sales experience in the building materials or construction products industry.
  • High-Level athletes are a preference.
  • Familiarity with insulation, framing components, air & vapor barriers, or related building products is strongly preferred.
  • Proven track record of business development with dealer / distributor accounts.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • Self‑motivated with the ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Willingness to travel extensively within the territory (up to 80% travel).
  • Proficiency in CRM tools and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
