Job summary

A leading aviation services provider in Alberta is seeking an Airstrip Coordinator for day-to-day operations at Christina Lake Airport. This role involves managing airstrip fuel operations, de-icing aircraft, monitoring flight conditions, and maintaining equipment. Successful candidates should have 3-8 years of aviation experience and strong communication skills. A Class 3 driver’s license is an asset. This position operates on a 4 days on, 3 days off schedule, with a focus on teamwork and safety.

Qualifications

  • Valid Driver’s License – Class 3 with Q endorsement is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct inspections of vehicles and equipment.

Canadian Base Operators’ & Acden Base Operators Christina Lake Airport team is growing! If you are committed and collaborative professional looking to contribute to a hard-working, innovative team, this opportunity is for you.

The Airstrip Coordinator Positions (2) are located at the Christina Lake Airport North of Fort McMurray and the position typically reports directly to the Site Manager. The Airstrip Coordinator(s) will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the airstrip. This will include but not be limited to the airstrip fuel management which includes daily fuel testing and fueling of aircraft, aircraft de-icing operations including BRIX testing, radio advisory, AMSCR reporting including CRFI testing, operation of ground service equipment (GSE), grounds keeping, helipad checks and maintenance, bird and wildlife control, daily inspections, pilot lounge maintenance including ordering of supplies and other related duties as required.

This is a 4 days on 3 days off modified work schedule (Monday – Thursday on site- fly in fly out), Please apply prior to January 1st, 2026.

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Conducts general inspections of vehicles and equipment ensuring good working condition and cleanliness (including fuel truck and other GSE).
  • Monitor/operate air-ground frequencies and advise pilots of the latest weather conditions, runway surface condition, and other reported traffic.
  • Liaise with client representatives, flight crew and other applicable parties.
  • Keeping appropriate radio logs, aircraft movement logs and strips, radio communications and file appropriately at month-end.
  • Maintain a close and continuous weather forecast.
  • Administer PPR form (Prior Permission Request), update the Flight Schedule as required and distribute as required.
  • Recording statistics re number of aircraft, passengers, baggage and de-icing information.
  • Baggage handling and check in services
  • Fuel various aircraft in a safe, accurate and timely manner which includes daily fuel testing and fueling of aircraft
  • Receive bulk fuel into storage as per Canadian Base Operators Airport Operations Manual.
  • Aircraft deicing and BRIX testing
  • Ability to operate various ground equipment (including ground power unit, tug, de-ice truck, fuel truck, tractor, skid steer with various attachments and pickup trucks)
  • Maintain the general cleanliness of vehicles and equipment to a high standard.
  • Limited airfield maintenance (which includes vegetation control and sweeping of deice pad as well as snow removal by hand and with supplied equipment-excluding SNIC on the airstrip)
  • Helipad checks and maintenance
  • Bird and wildlife control
  • General housekeeping of the pilot’s lounge
  • Daily inspections including
  • AWOS reporting
  • Secondary duties, as required, may include but are not limited to: conducting health, safety, environmental and quality checks, in support of a healthy and safe workplace environment and taking proactive and corrective measures in these areas.
  • Strong communication skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to teamwork with fellow employees, pilots, flight attendants and other contractors.
  • Ability to maintain healthy work ethic with little supervision

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
  • Grade 12 or GED Equivalent
certifications/designations considered an asset
  • Valid Driver’s License – Class 3 with Q endorsement
  • Radio License (ROC-A)
  • Completion of a certified Aviation Radio Operator and Weather Observers Program.
  • Prior leadership experience is a strong asset
  • Experience with fueling and deicing operations
WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  • 3 -8 years of aviation experience
SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
  • Proficient/ knowledge and understanding of: Established Aviation practices, procedures and techniques
  • Canadian Aviation Regulations, TP 312, and CSA B836
  • Applicable local, and federal labour codes
  • Organization and time management
  • Willing and able to travel – flights are provided to the work site from Calgary and or from Edmonton
  • Hold a valid non-restricted driver’s license,
  • AVOP
  • Previous experience with aircraft de-icing and aircraft ground handling
  • Annual Drivers Abstract
  • Criminal Record Check
  • Able to maintain client required clearances
