Responsibilities

The Airport Operations & Maintenance Manager ensures the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of the airport in accordance with Transport Canada regulations and the Airport Operations Manual. This role oversees daily airside and groundside operations, maintenance programs, and safety initiatives while leading maintenance and operations staff to maintain operational readiness.

  • Coordinates and manages the overall day-to-day maintenance activities of all airside and groundside areas
  • Oversee airport safety programs including daily airside inspections, wildlife management, FOD control, and snow/ice operations
  • Support airport security, emergency response, and compliance with Transport Canada and CARs 302/322 requirements
  • Lead environmental and vegetation management programs to maintain safety and reduce wildlife hazards
  • Maintain accurate inspection, maintenance, and compliance records; support audits and reporting
  • Supervise staff, coordinate training, and develop standard operating procedures for safe and efficient operations
  • Ensure department’s operations are compliant with federal, provincial and local laws, regulations, rules and ordinances related to airport and commercial aviation operations, environmental and worker safety including occupational hazards and safety precautions
  • Ensure the effective implementation of the Airport Winter Operations plan. Oversee winter operations such as snowplowing, snow removal and ice control by ensuring staff availability on a timely basis and designating priority snow removal areas. Actively manage operations and field conditions on the airfield during significant winter events
  • Responsible for supervision and direction of preventative maintenance programs
  • Coordination of maintenance related projects on the airfield
  • Participates in budget and forecast preparation
  • Represent the department with a positive and professional attitude

Qualifications

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

  • Diploma or degree in Aviation Management, Airport Operations, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3–5 years’ experience in airport operations or maintenance, preferably at a certified airport.
  • Knowledge of CARs, SMS, and airport security requirements.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
  • Proficiency with AIMS or similar inspection systems and Microsoft Office.
  • Valid AVOP and RAIC (or ability to obtain).
  • Valid driver’s license with airside driving privileges.
  • Training in Wildlife Control, SMS, and Emergency Response considered assets.
  • Must be available for after-hours and emergency response.
  • RROC. Restricted radio operators certificate
