Job summary

The Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) enlists Aircraft Structures Technicians to maintain, inspect and repair CAF aircraft and life-support systems. They work with metal, composite, and textile components and perform welding, fabrication and corrosion control tasks in hangar and shop environments.

Training begins with Basic Military Qualification, then occupation training at CFSATE in Ontario, with further specialization offered through on-the-job programs and NCMSTEP.

Qualifications

• Minimum education: Grade 10 (Quebec) including Math or equivalent.
• Ideal candidate has a college diploma; CAF determines training alignment.

Responsibilities

• Inspect aircraft structures and components.
• Perform repairs using metal, composites, and paints.
• Weld and fabricate aircraft parts and fixtures.
• Maintain life-support and safety systems.
• Prepare aircraft documentation and data.

Education

Grade 10 completion (Quebec provincial requirement)
