Job description

Department: Nutrition Services

Reports To: TRI Nutrition Services Manager

Salary: $24.39 - $25.22 (start rate in accordance with the collective agreement requirements)

Hours: Up to 24 hours per week

Shifts: 08: 00-16: 00 weekdays and alternating weekends

Status: Permanent Part-Time

Closing Date: November 18 2025

Duties
  • Delivering meal carts snacks and bulk supplies to patient units
  • Disassembling soiled patient trays including removing food debris from dishes, separating cutlery and processing soiled dishes through dish machine re-soaking / scrubbing dishes / pots and pans as needed
  • Stocking clean dishes in appropriate areas collecting soiled dish racks and empty meal carts from loading dock and patient units and returning to kitchen
  • Washing / sanitizing racks and meal carts cleaning ware washing area and dish machine handling totes of compostable material and garbage
  • Performing cross-functional duties as assigned and / or required; performing other duties consistent with the job classification as required
Qualifications
  • New hires must have grade 12 or equivalent education
  • Good manual dexterity and organizational skills

  • 6 months practical and related experience
  • Food Service Worker Certificate preferred
  • Food Handlers Certificate preferredAbility to read / understand short notes brief forms and memos
  • Must be able to meet the physical demands of the job: able to lift to 10 kg loading and unloading food trucks; pushing heavy food trucks during pick up and delivery of meals
  • Ability to perform duties in a professional and courteous manner and produce high quality work while meeting deadlines in accordance with UHN standards
  • Exercise initiative and good judgment with ability to multi-task
  • Compliance with confidentiality requirements under UHN Privacy Policy
  • Effective organizational interpersonal and communication skills
  • Knowledge of applicable legislative UHN and / or departmental policies
  • Client service oriented with the ability to effectively work with diversity and appreciate that people with different opinions backgrounds and characteristics bring richness to the challenge or situation at hand
  • Required to be available to work alternating weekends and statutory holidays and at least 3 weekday in a two-week period
  • Work in warm / humid conditions
  • May be required to work at multiple areas as well as rotating shifts in emergency situations
