Job summary

Brunel, partnering with DataAnnotation, seeks experienced Electrical and Electronics Engineers to contribute to an AI training program focused on real circuit and electronics work. This remote, project-based role welcomes engineers who design, simulate, and debug hardware across analog, RF, and mixed-signal domains.

The engagement starts with a skills assessment and offers flexible hours. Pay is USD per hour, with payments via PayPal; the scope includes work across multiple regions including the

Qualifications

  • Fluency in English (native or bilingual)
  • 2+ years industry experience in circuit or electronics engineering
  • Background in electrical/electronics engineering or related discipline
  • Strong command of circuit analysis and design tradeoffs, and the ability to defend component- and system-level decisions
  • Ability to articulate why an answer is wrong, not only that it is
  • Working comfort with AI tools, or ability to pick them up quickly
  • Bachelor's degree in EE preferred but not required

Responsibilities

  • Design challenging, realistic engineering problems from your practice: a circuit to specify, a control loop to stabilize, a power stage to size
  • Run those problems through frontier AI models and judge the output against your professional standard
  • Compare two model versions on identical prompts and call which performed better, and where each fell short
  • Critique model-generated derivations, schematics, component selections, and calculations, and write the reasoning behind your call
  • Flag concrete failures with evidence: wrong assumptions, sign and unit errors, unphysical results, invalid topologies, fabricated datasheet values, off-brief interpretation
  • Contribute across analog, RF and mixed-signal circuits, electromagnetics and antennas, control and systems, devices and materials, signal processing, photonics, and power and energy systems

Job description

Brunel is partnering with DataAnnotation to connect experienced Electrical and Electronics Engineers with an innovative AI training program. This opportunity brings together hands‑on engineering expertise and artificial intelligence to help evaluate and improve how AI models handle real circuit and electronics work. Selected experts will contribute their knowledge to the development of high‑quality, technically accurate AI systems.

This opportunity is designed for practicing engineers who currently design, simulate, and debug real hardware, across analog, RF and mixed‑signal, power electronics, embedded and controls, signal processing, photonics, and board‑level design.

Engagement Details

Engagement
Fully remote, project‑based work with a flexible schedule. Around 10 hours per week is the recommended starting point; the project prioritizes engineers who can commit 30-40 hours per week, though part‑time is considered.

Pay rate
$40-125+ USD/hour, paid via PayPal

Location
United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland, and Australia/New Zealand

First step
Skills assessment (1-3 hours)

Responsibilities:

  • Design challenging, realistic engineering problems from your own practice: a circuit to specify, a control loop to stabilize, a power stage to size
  • Run those problems through frontier AI models and judge the output against your professional standard
  • Compare two model versions on identical prompts and call which performed better, and where each fell short
  • Critique model‑generated derivations, schematics, component selections, and calculations, and write the reasoning behind your call
  • Flag concrete failures with evidence: wrong assumptions, sign and unit errors, unphysical results, invalid topologies, fabricated datasheet values, off‑brief interpretation
  • Contribute across analog, RF and mixed‑signal circuits, electromagnetics and antennas, control and systems, devices and materials, signal processing, photonics, and power and energy systems

Qualifications:

  • Fluency in English (native or bilingual level)
  • 2+ years of industry experience in circuit or electronics engineering
  • Background in electrical engineering, electronics engineering, or a closely related discipline
  • Strong command of circuit analysis and design tradeoffs, and the ability to defend component‑level and system‑level decisions
  • The ability to articulate why an answer is wrong, not only that it is
  • Working comfort with AI tools, or the ability to pick them up quickly
  • A current, in progress, or completed Bachelor's is preferred but not required

Note: Payment is made via PayPal. We will never ask for any money from you. PayPal will handle any currency conversions from USD. Only applicants in Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and the United States will be considered for this role. This is an independent contractor position.
