Job summary

Huawei Canada is seeking an AI Software Developer to design and implement intelligent tools for smart grid and energy management systems. You will integrate ML models into production software, build scalable backend services and APIs for data processing, and collaborate with researchers to translate algorithms into deployable solutions.

Ideal candidates hold a Master’s or PhD in CS or EE, show strong Python/Java/C++ skills, experience with ML frameworks, and solid software engineering

Qualifications

  • Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong programming skills in Python, Java, and/or C++.
  • Experience with machine learning and up-to-date AI frameworks.
  • Solid software engineering fundamentals (data structures, system design, APIs).
  • Experience building production-level applications.
  • Basic understanding of power systems or smart grid concepts (preferred, not required).

About the team:

The Smart Grid Technology Lab focuses on research in real-time simulation technologies, microgrid energy management, control systems, and other smart grid technologies. We apply cutting-edge technologies to the digital power industry. The lab has developed into a research organization with significant achievements and a strong impact in the industry.

About the job:
  • Design and develop AI tools and applications for smart grid and energy management systems.

  • Integrate machine learning models into real-world software platforms

  • Build scalable backend services and APIs for data processing, analysis, and control.

  • Collaborate with researchers to translate algorithms into deployable solutions

  • Work with large-scale data from simulations, sensors, and energy systems

About the ideal candidate:
