Job summary

Comm100 in Vancouver is seeking an AI Engineer to research key generative AI capabilities and translate findings into practical features for our platform.

You will work with LLM tooling and deployment stacks, collaborate with cross-regional teams, and engage with customers to tailor technical solutions.

A CS/Math/related degree and 1+ year in AI/ML, with Python and TensorFlow or PyTorch experience, are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or above in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related fields with AI/ML focus.
• 1+ years of AI/ML engineering experience focusing on generative AI technologies and GenAI operations.
• Understanding of LLM app development: prompt engineering, RAG, embeddings, vector databases, tool calling, and agent architectures.
• Proficiency in Python and TensorFlow or PyTorch; knowledge of DL, RL, and unsupervised learning.
• Experience with data preprocessing (Pandas), feature engineering, model training (sklearn, transformers, LoRA, DPO), and deployment (vLLM, DeepSpeed, TensorRT).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; excellent teamwork and communication.

Responsibilities

• Research capabilities leading to AGI and track AI research advances in LLM; bring new ideas to the business.
• Leverage AI agentic frameworks and workflow/logging tools to develop robust AI features.
• Engage in AI assistant data construction, pre-training, fine-tuning, optimization, prompts, and deployment.
• Research LLM technologies (RAG/Agent) and explore new AI assistant architectures to improve QA and UX.
• Write clean, high-quality, performant, well-tested code for reliability and maintainability.
• Collaborate with cross-regional engineering teams and communicate with customers/stakeholders.

About the Role

Job Responsibilities

• Research key capabilities leading to AGI, track the latest academic and industry research achievements in LLM, and bring new technical ideas and methods to the business.
• Leverage generative AI Agentic frameworks (e.g., Llama-Index, AutoGen, Semantic Kernel, Langchain), workflow frameworks (e.g, Langgraph), and trace logging (eg. Langsmith, wandb, phoenix) to develop robust AI features.
• Deeply engage in key tasks such as AI Assistant data construction, LLM pre-training, fine-tuning, algorithm optimization, prompt engineering, and model deployment.
• Research key technologies for the implementation of LLM such as RAG and Agent, explore a new generation AI Assistant architecture based on LLM, and continuously enhance AI Assistant question-answering effectiveness and user experience.
• Writing clean, high-quality, high-performance, maintainable, and thoroughly tested code to ensure Algorithm reliability and maintainability.
• Work closely with cross-regional engineering teams to facilitate communication and collaboration.
• Engage in direct communication with customers and business stakeholders to propose technical solutions and address product issues.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or above in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field with a focus on Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning or software engineering.
• 1+ years of experience in AI/ML engineering, with a strong focus on generative AI technologies, prompt engineering, vector databases and GenAI operationalizing
• Understanding of LLM application development concepts including prompt engineering, RAG, embeddings, vector databases, structured output, tool/function calling, and agent architectures.
• Proficiency in Python, TensorFlow or PyTorch, Knowledge of advanced machine learning techniques, such as deep learning, reinforcement learning, and unsupervised learning.
• Experience with data preprocessing(Pandas), feature engineering(datasets, PyTorch), model training(sklearn, transformers, LoRA, DPO), model deploying(vLLM, DeepSpeed, TensorRT).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen interest in pushing the boundaries of AI and machine learning.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Salary: $80,000 - 120,000 CAD per year

Location: This position is a fully on-site role in our downtown Vancouver office.
