Job summary

Amazon Development Centre Canada ULC is seeking a Security Engineer to join the team securing foundational Identity and Crypto services powering AWS. You will influence secure-by-default architecture and work with service teams across critical systems at cloud scale.

In this role you will design security controls, collaborate with developers, and leverage AI tools to accelerate threat detection and automate security assessments across our platform used by millions of customers.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of scripting, programming, and security code review in a non-internship role.
• 3+ years in threat modelling, secure coding, identity management, software development, cryptography, or related security areas.
• Knowledge of industry-based security vulnerabilities and remediation techniques.
• Experience using AI/ML tools to automate threat detection or augment security workflows.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain automated security guardrails and secure-by-default practices.
• Engage early with development teams to embed security into applications from design.
• Build automated security assessment capabilities that scale across the business unit.
• Contribute code for security fixes alongside developers.
• Partner with developers to build self-service security tools.
• Design and implement preventive and detective security controls with continuous assurance.
• Collaborate to define long-term security strategy and participate in on-call rotations.
• Leverage AI tools to accelerate assessments and threat detection.
