Job description

At Lyft, our purpose is to serve and connect. We aim to achieve this by cultivating a work environment where all team members belong and have the opportunity to thrive.

The divide between business needs and technical delivery is one of the most persistent challenges in enterprise technology, where People teams struggle to articulate requirements and engineering teams lack the business context to build truly impactful solutions. As a Senior Business Solution Architect for People at Lyft, you'll eliminate this gap by serving as the critical connection point between our People teams and our Corporate Engineering and IT (CEIT) organization. This customer obsessed role uniquely combines deep functional business expertise with strong technical acumen, with an AI native approach, enabling you to translate complex business needs into systemized, scalable solutions while driving AI-enabled transformation across the People function.

We're seeking a strategic thinker who thrives at the intersection of business and technology, possesses exceptional communication skills across both technical and non-technical audiences, and is dedicated to architecting the future AI Native state of how the People function operates. You'll be the trusted advisor to both business leaders and engineering teams, ensuring our People organization has systems and processes that scale with our business while our engineering teams build solutions that truly move the needle. With AI fundamentally reshaping how the People function gets work done, your expertise will be critical in helping us responsibly harness these technologies to drive operational excellence. In this role, you'll reimagine People workflows through an AI-first lens, design business processes that balance operational excellence with technical feasibility, and champion automation that elevates teams from tactical execution to strategic impact.

If you are a candidate who has the vision of what could be, who has the ability to cultivate relationships, and has a belief in driving impact, then you may be the ideal person for this position. We are committed to building a diverse and inclusive team and encourage applications from candidates of all backgrounds.

Responsibilities:
  • Architect People Solutions and Bridge Business-Technology Collaboration
    • Serve as the primary liaison between People stakeholders and engineering teams, translating both global and localized business needs into clear technical requirements taking an AI-Native approach and validating that delivered solutions meet business objectives.
    • Maintain deep expertise in both People domain knowledge (Talent Acquisition, Compensation, Benefits, Onboarding, Learning & Development, Employee Experience) and the technical systems that support it (Workday, Greenhouse, CultureAmp, and various boundary applications), enabling effective communication across both audiences.
    • Define the strategic roadmap for AI-First People systems, platforms, and data architecture in alignment with business strategy and technology capabilities.
    • Design and document business processes that streamline workflows, eliminate redundancies, and improve operational efficiency while ensuring technical feasibility.
    • Develop comprehensive business requirements documentation, user stories, and acceptance criteria that enable engineering teams to deliver high-quality solutions.
  • Drive AI-Enabled Transformation Across People
    • Partner with People leaders to reimagine processes through an AI-first lens, prototyping solutions that demonstrate art-of-the-possible and building conviction for change.
    • Identify high-impact opportunities to apply AI and automation across People workflows, from candidate screening and onboarding to personalized learning and predictive retention analysis, pushing teams up the value chain by eliminating mundane, repetitive work.
    • Establish frameworks for responsible AI adoption within People, ensuring solutions align with compliance, data privacy, security guidelines, and ethical considerations.
    • Stay current on emerging AI capabilities and tools, continuously researching how new models and platforms can be applied to People use cases.
  • Enable Strategic Decision-Making and Platform Optimization
    • Develop business cases that quantify ROI for technology investments, translating technical capabilities into tangible business value metrics.
    • Lead People systems architecture discussions, providing guidance on integrations, data flows, technical dependencies, and impact of proposed changes.
    • Partner with Security, Legal, and Compliance teams to ensure People solutions adhere to data privacy, audit standards, and regulatory obligations related to employee data.
    • Support M&A integration efforts by assessing acquired companies' People systems and architecting integration roadmaps that minimize business disruption.
Experience:
  • 8+ years of experience in business solution architecture, business process design, People/HR systems implementation, or related roles, with deep expertise in People operations and systems.
  • Experience with AI/automation in business contexts, including familiarity with LLMs, intelligent automation tools, or AI-powered workflow solutions.
  • Proven track record translating complex business requirements into technical solutions, working at the intersection of People teams and engineering.
  • Strong technical foundation including understanding of system architecture, APIs, data modeling, integration patterns, and modern SaaS platforms.
  • Demonstrated success leading business process transformation initiatives in People/HR that delivered measurable improvements in efficiency, accuracy, or user experience.
  • Exceptional communication skills with ability to influence stakeholders at all levels, from explaining technical concepts to CHRO and People executives to providing detailed specifications to engineers.
  • Preferred Qualifications
    • Hands-on experience with core People enterprise systems such as Workday, Greenhouse, Dayforce, or similar platforms.
    • Hands-on experience with AI tools and platforms (e.g., Claude, Workato, automation platforms like UiPath or Power Automate)
    • Experience with change management and driving adoption of new systems or processes across large People organizations.
    • Background in product management, solution architecture, or technical program management.
    • Experience in high-growth tech companies or organizations undergoing significant digital transformation.
    • M&A integration experience, particularly People systems consolidation and harmonization.
