Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in underwriting an asset.
  • Knowledge of agricultural operations, rural property, and commercial risk is an asset.
  • Post-secondary education in Insurance, Agriculture, or Business (or equivalent experience).
  • CIP Designation, or in progress, an asset.
  • Strong decision-making, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and insurance systems (Cognition+ an asset).
  • Analytical, detail-oriented, and solutions-focused mindset.

  • Underwriting new business, renewals, and endorsements on farm and/or commercial risks.
  • Collaborating with brokers and agents to clarify risk and resolve concerns.
  • Recommending premiums and coverage terms based on sound risk analysis.
  • Processing policies using Cognition+ and ensure complete, accurate documentation.
  • Supporting product development and broker training for new product offerings.
  • Escalate complex or out-of-authority risks for review.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Westminster Mutual is looking for a detail-oriented Farm and/or Commercial Underwriter to join our team. You’ll evaluate and underwrite new and renewal business in the agricultural and/or commercial property sectors, helping ensure profitable growth while delivering exceptional service to our brokers, agents, and policyholders. This role combines technical risk assessment with relationship management in a collaborative, hybrid work environment.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
