Job description

As the Senior Agile Business Analyst (BA) you will serve as the facilitator between the Business and IT in truly understanding the business’s needs and playing a key role in the overall management and success of a project through the entire project lifecycle.

Using proven methods and tools, you will lead the planning, eliciting, analyzing, validating and managing of requirements, business processes, high-level solution design, test case design, and implementation planning & support – in partnership with Project Managers, Business Stakeholders, and IT interfacing groups.

You will work on projects that use Agile Scrum delivery, and may also be called upon to lead other IT project work based on changing project demands.

Responsibilities

  • Work alongside business and development partners to deliver solutions for internal and external customer facing application using an Agile framework
  • Develop, communicate, and implement plans for defining requirements complete with timelines, approach, stakeholders and deliverables
  • Facilitate requirements gathering sessions with multiple stakeholders to extract requirements using best practice methods and tools
  • Form a partnership with the business teams to deeply understand their business in order to enable the capture of clear, concise, and correct business requirements
  • Bridge the gap between business and IT, ensuring common understanding and IT/Business alignment of both functional (for business needs) and non-functional requirements (quality attributes, scalability, interfaces, constraints, etc.)
  • Convey business requirements and design concepts with models such as gap analysis, use cases, prototypes, etc. as appropriate
  • Responsible for creating, refining, and maintaining user stories and associated deliverables – process flows, test cases, etc. – to meet development and stakeholder needs
  • Provide project management support using approved project management processes, tools, and techniques
  • Provide UAT support to business using test cases based off user stories
  • Contribute to a collaborative team environment by information sharing and team cooperation

Qualifications

  • University degree in Commerce/Business Administration, Applied/Computer Science, or equivalent
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Business Analyst role in anAgile project-based environment
  • In-depth knowledge of project and software development methodologies/techniques – including Agile (Scrum) and Waterfall
  • Strong analysis, critical thinking, and problem solving skills
  • Solid presentation, facilitation, interview, and workshop skills
  • Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict-management skills
  • Ability to multi-task and work on multiple projects at the same time and under tight deadlines
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity, overcome confusion, and simplify complex situations
  • Able to mitigate unexpected change and be able to communicate impacts as well as possible options to recover

This is a 1-year contract role located in Toronto, ON.
