Job summary

Timken, a global technology leader, is seeking an Afternoon Shift Machinist for gear cutting and milling. The role involves reading blueprints, operating lathes, mills, grinders, gear-cutting equipment, and managing tight tolerances with proper feeds and speeds.

You will also handle overhead crane operations and participate in continuous improvement efforts. Applicants must be able to work 3:00pm–11:00pm Monday–Thursday, with safety and quality at the forefront.

Qualifications

  • Journeyman Machinist certification is an asset.
  • Experience with large Boring Mills is preferred.
  • Ability to run manual and CNC machines: lathes, mills, grinders, slotters, gear-cutting equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints and engineered drawings.
  • Run machines including boring mills and lathes.
  • Understand tool limitations and controls during operation.
  • Operate machines within tight tolerances using proper feeds and speeds.
  • Measure precisely with micrometers and calipers.
  • Operate traveling overhead crane up to 20 tonnes and rigging.
  • Inspect work per ISO and QA standards.
  • Work unsupervised on own machine.
  • Troubleshoot and perform basic preventative maintenance.
  • Maintain safe and clean working environment.
