Job summary

Family and Children's Services Niagara invites applications for an After Hours Worker. The role focuses on emergency child protection after hours, including weekends and holidays, reporting to the Child Welfare Supervisor.

Responsibilities include intake, safety assessments, and coordinating follow-up services with the supervisor. A relevant degree or diploma and a valid driver's license are required.

Qualifications

  • BA in Humanities or related diploma in Social Services.
  • 2 years related work experience.
  • Solid knowledge of eligibility spectrum screening tool and CAS programs.
  • Knowledge of legislation governing child welfare including CYFS Act, Ministry standards, Children Law Reform Act, Foster Care standards.
  • Valid G Driver's License with reliable vehicle and insurance.
  • Must be available for all scheduled shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Receive and record emergency child protection referrals and assign spectrum code.
  • Complete required electronic file searches and fast track checks.
  • Consult with Supervisor to assess immediate safety and need for intervention.
  • Seek direction on apprehensions, placements and follow-up services.
  • Complete all mandatory documentation; keep supervisor apprised of status.
  • Participate in meetings and training; support team and supervisor; adhere to policies.
