Job summary

A leading transport technology company in Quebec seeks a qualified mechanical engineer with expertise in Computational Fluid Dynamics. The candidate must have at least 5 years of experience in a relevant field and be fluent in both French and English. The role includes performing CFD analyses and preparing documentation for projects. This position provides the opportunity to contribute to innovative solutions in the transport industry.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in a vibroacoustic environment in automotive/aeronautics/military.
  • Registered or eligible with the OIQ (Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec).
  • Understanding of railway specific standards is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Perform CFD analyses in design phase using Alstom tools.
  • Prepare documentation for offers and projects related to aerodynamic performances.
  • Liaise with AeroX engineers for relevant experience.
  • Develop creative and innovative solutions.

Responsibilities
  • Perform Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analyses in design phase using Alstom tools
  • Predict Aerodynamic performance (Resistance to Motion, Pressure head pulse, Pressure waves, Crosswind response, etc...) using standard CFD methodologies defined by AeroX Leader
  • Predict Aero-thermal and internal aerodynamics performance (Cooling, Heating, Ventilation, ducts pressure drop, climate control in drivers cabin and passenger compartment, etc…)
  • Specify aerodynamics requirements at train and sub systems levels
  • Prepare the documentation needed by the offers and projects related to aerodynamic performances
  • Prepare, organize, participate and analyse testing on wind tunnel or on the train itself to measure performances
  • Liaise with AeroX engineers in other Alstom sites to gather relevant experience
  • Participate in R&D programs and work packages
  • Develop creative and innovative solutions
Desired profile
  • Degree in Mechanical engineering
  • Registered, or eligible to be registered soon with the OIQ (L‘Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec)
  • 5+ years of experience in a vibroacoustic department in automotive/aeronautics/military sector.
  • Understanding of railway specific standardsis an asset
  • Good knowledge of at least one leading CFD package (STAR-CCM+, CFX, FLUENT, PowerFLOW, etc…)
  • Good knowledge of general fluid mechanics, thermal management, and fluid structure interaction
  • Refined soft skills that help build and maintainrelationships withother Engineers/Designers in an office
  • Fluent in French & English
  • Available to travel occasionally outside of Montreal area (to supplier sites and customer meetings)
