Job summary

Conair is the largest, privately owned, fixed-wing aerial firefighting company, supporting governments worldwide for over 50 years. We seek experienced pilots to join for the 2027 season and beyond, based in Abbotsford, BC.

You will operate firefighting missions across varied terrains and participate in ongoing training to uphold safety standards. Qualified candidates bring 2,000+ total flight hours, 1,000 PIC hours, and 250 hours in mountainous terrain, with ATPL preferred.

Qualifications

  • Must be a Canadian Citizen or have the legal right to work in Canada.
  • Ability to obtain necessary work visas for international firefighting assignments.
  • Possess a valid Canadian Driver’s License and Passport.
  • Commit to residing in Canada during the fire season.
  • A valid Canadian ATPL (Airline Transport Pilot License) preferred, applicants with a Commercial Pilot License (CPL) only considered if overall experience is extraordinary and close to achieving the ATPL.
  • Able to obtain a Canadian Category 1 Medical Certificate.
  • Minimum of 2,000 hours total flight time.
  • Minimum of 1,000 hours Pilot-in-Command (PIC).
  • At least 250 hours of flying in mountainous terrain.
  • Recent flying experience within the last 12 months.
  • For seaplane or tailwheel aircraft positions: 500 hours PIC on seaplane in a commercial operation, or 200 hours on certified tailwheel aircraft.

Responsibilities

  • Operate Conair aircraft in firefighting missions both domestically and internationally.
  • Ensure safe, precise, and efficient flying in challenging conditions, including mountainous terrain.
  • Participate in regular training and adhere to all safety and operational protocols.

Qualifications:

Successful candidates will meet the following criteria:

  • Must be a Canadian Citizen or have the legal right to work in Canada.

Please note, a lack of seaplane or tailwheel experience will not preclude other applicants from consideration.
