Position Title Advisor, People & Culture

Position Summary Are you passionate about shaping positive workplace experiences and driving strategic people practices? Red Deer Polytechnic is seeking a dynamic People & Culture Advisor to join our collaborative team and help advance our 2030 Strategic Plan. Position Responsibilities As a People & Culture Advisor, you’ll be a trusted partner to managers and employees across our Schools and Divisions. You’ll provide frontline advisory support on all aspects of human resource management, including:

  • Employee Relations: Guide managers through sensitive workplace matters, support fair resolutions, and facilitate mechanisms for employee feedback. Serve as an escalation resource for unresolved concerns and help foster a positive workplace culture.
  • Labour Relations: Collaborate with HR Business Partners and Labour Relations Specialists to interpret policies, collective agreements, and legislation. Support constructive relationships with union and association representatives.
  • Performance Management: Advise on performance improvement strategies, progressive discipline, and compliance. Assist with documentation and ensure fair processes.
  • HR Program Development: Help design and implement programs that build supervisor and manager capabilities, support employee well-being, and drive engagement.
  • HR Planning: Work with client groups to align HR plans with strategic and operational goals, including workforce planning, succession, and organizational design.
  • Recruitment & Selection: Coordinate applicant tracking, advise on best practices, and participate in selection processes to attract top talent.
  • Project Management: Lead HR projects aligned with institutional priorities, contribute to policy development, and conduct research to support collective bargaining and planning.

Required Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources Management, Social Sciences, or a related field.

Experience: At least 5 years as an HR generalist, ideally in a unionized and post-secondary environment. Strong knowledge of relevant legislation and HRMIS software. Facilitation or training experience is a plus.

Skills: Exceptional relationship-building, communication, and problem-solving abilities. Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and HRMIS systems.

Preferred Qualifications HR Management Graduate Certificate and CPHR designation are assets.

Salary or Hourly? Hourly

Salary $40.60 - $49.34 per hour
