Job summary

Rio Tinto seeks a Maintenance Planner to support the Kemano Hydro Power Station. You will develop practical maintenance plans, coordinate resources, and drive a structured six-week planning process in a large-scale industrial setting.

Qualifications

• Commitment to safety of yourself and your team.
• Ability to develop practical maintenance plans, coordinate competing priorities and work with stakeholders.
• Demonstrated experience in maintenance planning or scheduling in mining, manufacturing, power generation or other safety‑critical environments.
• Engineering/tech/trade qualification; electrical background preferred.
• Experience using computerized maintenance management systems such as SAP/Maximo, with Excel/Word skills.

About The Role

We are looking for a Maintenance Planner to help the Asset Management team deliver safe, reliable and efficient maintenance outcomes at the Kemano Hydro Power Station. In this role, you will contribute to equipment reliability and workforce productivity by developing practical maintenance plans, coordinating resources and supporting a structured six-week planning process. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys solving complex planning challenges and wants to build their career in a large-scale industrial maintenance environment. You will be based at the Kemano camp and follow a Friday-to-Friday work schedule. Kemano is located approximately 80 km from Kitimat, with employee transportation to and from site provided by boat at the start and end of each rotation. Transportation is provided from Kitimat only, and this position is not a fly-in-fly-out arrangement. While we don’t offer fly-in-fly-out arrangements, we do offer domestic relocation assistance, to help you settle in and thrive. Join us and become an integral part of our vibrant community. What You’ll Be Doing

Reporting to the Asset Management Superintendent, you will

• Prioritize safety requirements in all maintenance planning and scheduling activities.

• Coordinate and support the six-week planning process to improve maintenance efficiency, work quality and equipment reliability.

• Lead post-work and follow-up reviews to capture learnings and drive continuous improvement in maintenance practices.

• Manage repairable item logistics and track long lead‑time material orders to ensure maintenance readiness.

About You

Required for Success

• Demonstrated experience in maintenance planning or scheduling within mining, manufacturing, power generation or another safety‑critical industrial environment.
• A qualification in engineering, technology, a skilled trade, maintenance planning or a related discipline; an electrical background is preferred.
• Experience using computerized maintenance management systems such as SAP, Maximo or equivalent, together with intermediate Microsoft Excel and Word skills.

Helpful for Success

• Experience supporting shutdown planning, repairable asset management or long lead‑time material coordination.

The base salary range for this role is $90,560 - $135,840 CAD in addition to allowances, bonus, equity, health or retirement benefits, and any other discretionary benefits offered at Rio Tinto. Our base salary ranges are based on role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by the skills, experience, and impact you bring to the role.
