About the Job : Adult Living Support Worker

Join our team supporting adults with behavioral and developmental diverse abilities in a home setting. You’ll help implement care and behavioral plans, promote independence and build meaningful community connections.

What You’ll Do
  • Collaborate with clients, caregivers and professionals to set and achieve personal goals
  • Provide personal care, health support and medication administration
  • Plan and prepare nutritious meals based on individual dietary needs
  • Lead daily living tasks: housekeeping, shopping, laundry, yard work and basic repairs
  • Support community outings, medical appointments and social visits
  • Teach life skills, relationship building and self‑advocacy
  • Manage household finances and maintain clear documentation
  • Identify and respond to risks ensuring safety for all

What You Bring
  • Diploma in Human or Social Services or other related field
  • 1‑year recent experience with individuals with moderate to severe behavioural and developmental diverse abilities
  • Or a combination of education, training and experience.

  • Work with individuals facing behavioural and developmental challenges including Autism.
  • Build strong trusting relationships with clients, families and the care team.
  • Handle challenging behaviours and crises with calm appropriate responses.
  • Support life skills development using a strengths‑based approach.
  • Plan and implement client goals, schedules and strategies.
  • Work independently and collaborate effectively with the team.
  • Solve problems, follow procedures and take initiative.
  • Maintain the home (cooking, cleaning, shopping, budgeting).
  • Prepare healthy, nutritious meals.
Other Musts
  • Valid BC Class 5 Driver’s License
  • Safe driving record & reliable vehicle
  • TB Test (clear of tuberculosis)
  • Criminal record check with vulnerable sector search
  • Unionized position with a 1.85% union dues deduction
  • Physical abilities to provide individuals with personal care and recreational activities indoors and outdoors, including supporting individuals in wheelchairs and walkers, carrying, lifting, transferring, pushing, pulling, bending, assisting clients safely in and out of bed and bath and using lifts and other health equipment appropriately.
  • The following training is required and provided to the successful candidate free of charge. Existing certifications are an asset: First Aid, Mandt SafeTalk, Medication Management, Privacy and Information Sharing, Safe Food Handling, Anti‑Bullying and Harassment.
