Position Overview

Reporting to the Manager of Health Information Services the Admitting Clerk I is responsible for a diversity of Health Information Services functions including; patient pre-registration, patient registration, bed control, death processing, Drug Program (DPIN) retrieval, Client Registry search, chart management, late report processing, chart assembly and report generation/dissemination.

Experience
  • Experience in a Windows environment essential.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
  • Minimum Grade 12 Education.
  • Successful completion of a Medical Administrative Assistant program from a recognized College, a recognized Medical Office Administration program, Year 1 of a recognized Health Information Management program, or successful completion of a recognized medical terminology course, PLUS one-year experience in a Patient Registration Department.

  • Knowledge of Electronic Health Record an asset.
  • Working knowledge of the Personal Health Information Act.
  • Accurate Typing – 40 Words per minute in a Hospital typing test.
  • Ability to prioritize workload, work independently and make effective decisions.
  • Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication in the English Language.

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment.
