Permanent Full-Time

Hastings County has a current vacancy for a Permanent Full-Time Administrative Support Clerk in our Community and Human Services Department. Through commitment to established operating principles, this position is responsible to provide administrative and clerical support for Ontario Works, Children’s Services, and Housing Services staff, and to provide support for other client access and program support staff as required.

Successful candidates are expected to embrace and abide by the Hastings County Community & Human Services operating principles and customer service-centered philosophies.

DUTIES
  • Provide administrative and clerical support for Ontario Works, Children’s Services, and Housing Services staff and others as required.
  • Data entry, file preparation and records retention.
  • Processing of general and legal documents and correspondence, and response to external inquiries.
  • Processing of daily schedules, computer logs and reports; financial reports, various Ministry reporting activities.
  • Opening, processing, and sorting of internal and incoming mail for Community and Human Services.
  • Sorting and processing outgoing County mail by operation of mailing equipment.
  • Provision of overflow and backfill for the Client Access and Program Support Unit including the file room.
  • Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum two-year diploma in business or accounting.
  • One to two years related work experience.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation/policy/procedures including MFIPPA, the Ontario Works/Ontario Disability Support Program/Day Nurseries, Housing Services Act 2011 and Residential Tenancy Acts.
  • High degree of proficiency with Windows programs including Word and Excel.
  • General working knowledge of departmental databases including SAMS, YARDI, and OCCMS.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision and effectively in a team environment.
  • Use of discretion and good judgment is essential when dealing with highly confidential and sensitive issues.

HOURS OF WORK: As per Article 19 of the Collective Agreement.

WAGE RANGE: $ 47,790.35 - $ 52,507.95 / annum
