Job description

The role of Administrative Assistant in the Legal Department at GC Crédit-Bail Québec Inc. involves a vital contribution to our operations by providing robust support within our administration team. Located in the vibrant city of Montréal, this position requires a detail-oriented individual capable of managing complex tasks related to bankruptcies, collections, legal disputes, and small claims, while ensuring smooth interactions with our legal partners across Canada, particularly in British Columbia, Ontario, and Québec

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage bankruptcy cases by receiving, filing, and updating case files, ensuring timely filing of claims, and maintaining regular communication with trustees to close cases with accurate validation and coordination with our accounting department.
  • Oversee relationships with collection agencies, including CTL and Loopstra, by transmitting relevant files, updating status reports, managing payment agreements, and processing invoices efficiently.
  • Collaborate closely with legal counsel by preparing and following up on legal documents, managing agreements, processing legal invoices, and maintaining organized records for easy retrieval.
  • Handle matters involving small claims in Québec, Ontario, and British Columbia by preparing and submitting petitions, following up with courts, managing disputes and mediations, tracking decisions, and processing associated fees

Qualifications Required

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role, ideally within a legal or collections environment.
  • Proficient in office software tools, particularly Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), to ensure effective documentation and communication.
  • Strong understanding of collection procedures, bankruptcy processes, and relevant legal protocols.
  • Fluency in both French and English, demonstrating proficiency in written and verbal communication to effectively engage with clients and team members.
  • Critical thinking skills, independence, and the ability to negotiate effectively in a variety of situations.
  • A keen sense of organization and administrative rigor, ensuring that all tasks are completed with high attention to detail.
