As Payroll and Finance Officer you will be responsible for the majority of the financial administration and payroll functions within the Department of Postgraduate Medical Education. You will deal with a variety of faculty, staff, and students and are keen to recommend opportunities to streamline our processes. Working under the general direction of the Manager, Finance and Business Services, PGME, you will also assist in the financial and business operations of our unit, including financial processing and reporting.

Responsibilities
  • Acting as the first point of contact for payroll related enquiries; Entering salary and/or personnel information in HRIS and Dayforce Powerpay
  • Processing payroll transactions in HRIS and Dayforce Powerpay, ensuring data integrity and accuracy across PGME Infopay, POWER, and Dayforce, in compliance with applicable policies, procedures, collective agreements, and legislative requirements
  • Administering and tracking stipend payments to trainees in compliance with the PARO-CAHO and sponsorship agreements
  • Collecting and coordinating supporting documentation for payroll and HRIS processing, including onboarding workflows through DocuSign, SharePoint, and OwnCloud
  • Supporting benefit enrolment in collaboration with Manulife and internal HR platforms and resolving accounting, payroll, and HRIS issues with external providers as needed
  • Gathering information in preparation for budget planning; Preparing financial summary reports
  • Processing accounts receivable and accounts payable
  • Reconciling accounts; Analyzing administrative processes and procedures and recommending changes for improvement
Essential Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience
  • Minimum five years of relevant payroll and financial experience
  • Experience applying HR rules, guidelines, and payroll procedures in a post-secondary environment
  • Demonstrated experience processing accounts receivable and accounts payable
  • Experience identifying and resolving payroll and financial discrepancies
  • Demonstrated experience developing, maintaining, and analyzing payroll and financial reports
  • Advanced skills with MS Office (e.g., Excel and Word) and database management
  • Experience using financial and HR systems, including HRIS, FIS, RIS, Dayforce Powerpay or comparable applications
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in managing financial and payroll information
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and sound judgement
