Administration and Development Coordinator

Purpose and scope:

The Administration and Development Coordinator supports the fundraising and communications plans at the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives, Manitoba office in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The Coordinator also provides support to the Director in the day‑to‑day management of the office and general office management.

The Administration and Development Coordinator reports directly to the CCPA-MB Director. The CCPA-MB is a provincial office of the CCPA, an independent, charitable, non‑partisan research institute concerned with issues of social, economic and environmental justice.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advances the vision and mission of CCPA-MB.
  • Supports a culture of philanthropy within the organization.
  • Supports CCPA-MB’s revenue and communications goals.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of a fund development plan that includes special appeals, major gifts, events, and donor stewardship.
  • Undertakes administrative tasks related to the CCPA-MB strategic plan and other tasks as needed.
  • Posts approved web updates and social media posts.

Duties of the Position

Fund Development (approximately 40%)

  • Supports CCPA-MB’s annual strategic plan and plans for fund development, with the CCPA MB’ Steering Committee.
  • Effectively organizes, oversees and delivers CCPA-MB’s signature event – the annual Errol Black Chair in Labour Issues Brunch.
  • Participates in annual strategic planning and budget processes.
  • Tracks and monitors the fund development budget, ensuring compliance and proactivity.
  • Supports effective donor relations, cultivation, stewardship, and recognition.

Communications & Stakeholder Relations (approximately 40%)

  • Supports the implementation and tracks CCPA-MB’s annual communications plan in accordance with the strategic plan.
  • Supports the director by posting approved content to CCPA MB’s website, social media platforms, and Youtube channel.
  • Does light graphic design using Canva to develop social media content, using approved text.
  • Implements CCPA Manitoba’s annual spring direct mailing, e‑newsletters, and other communications.
  • Organises the production of the annual CCPA MB newsletter.
  • Assists with report launches and other community public talks.
  • Represents CCPA Manitoba and organises tabling at several annual public events.

Office Administration (approximately 20%)

  • Monitors CCPA MB’s main phone line, email, and postal mail and maintains leases and office contracts (photocopier).
  • Submits financial packages to CCPA National on a timely basis.
  • Organises regular Steering Committee meetings and takes minutes.
  • Ensures strong communication and collaborative relationships with colleagues.
  • Identifies and pursues opportunities for personal and professional development.
  • Other duties as delegated by the Manitoba Director.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A post‑secondary degree or a suitable combination of training and experience.
  • Minimum two years of experience in fundraising, public relations, or communications & marketing.
  • High degree of computer literacy, including G Suite, Canva, Mail Chimp, WordPress and donor databases (Donor Perfect). InDesign or Adobe Illustrator knowledge an asset.
  • Excellent organisational and administrative skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively independently and as a team member. Able to work occasional evenings and weekends.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Event coordination and logistics.
  • Must be proactive, demonstrate a high degree of initiative, and have excellent follow‑through. Must be organised, have proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Experience with, and commitment to, social and economic justice issues.
  • Knowledge of the progressive labour and community sectors in Manitoba.
  • Experience in a non‑profit environment is desirable.
  • Experience working in a collaborative staff team environment and maintaining strong relationships in the workplace.

This position is 80% full‑time equivalent, working in person at the CCPA Manitoba office at 301‑583 Ellice Avenue in Winnipeg. The position is part of the current collective agreement between CCPA and UNIFOR. CCPA has a strong benefits package and a pension. Benefits and conditions of employment are outlined in the CCPA/UNIFOR collective agreement.The annual salary will range from $44,973 to $52,454, based on education and experience.
