The Opportunity

Reporting to the Business Math & Technology Literacy Academic Chair, the Adjunct Instructor, Technology Literacy is responsible for ensuring first year SAIT students acquire strong math, computer, problem solving and analytical skills that are relevant to their disciplines, future careers and lives.

The incumbent needs to demonstrate a strong command of MS suite of applications, Google and Microsoft productivity tools, Visual Basic for Applications (VBA), Python, and ProjectLibre software. Proficient use and training in AI tools are also a requirement. Minimum three years of industry and teaching experience are required; asynchronous teaching experience is a strong asset.

Note: This is a temporary, hourly based adjunct position for online asynchronous courses.

The Role
  • Deliver engaging online asynchronous courses.
  • Develop application-based learning materials and assessments tailored to students' areas of specialty.
  • Prepare additional practical study to support learners as needed.
  • Evaluate students' progress and provide timely, formative feedback.
  • Provide ongoing academic support, guidance and advice to learners.
  • Familiarize students with available SAIT supports and make referrals as needed.
  • Participate in SAIT’s instructor training program as required.
  • Perform related duties as assigned by the academic chair.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Minimum of a Bachelor degree is required.
  • Minimum three years of industry and teaching experience are required. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
  • Asynchronous teaching experience is a strong asset.
  • PMP designation is an asset.
  • Must have a strong command of MS suite of applications, Google and Microsoft productivity tools, Visual Basic for Applications (VBA), Python, and ProjectLibre software.
  • Proficient use and training in AI tools are also a requirement.
  • Must be able to create a student-centered classroom environment.
  • The incumbent will be teaching to the MacPhail School of Energy, School of Manufacturing and electrical programs mainly. Qualifications and/or work experience in these areas are considered a strong asset.
