A community service organization in Kitchener seeks an Addiction Counsellor to provide individual and group support. The role involves conducting assessments, developing treatment plans, and counseling participants. Applicants should have a degree in counselling or social work, with at least one year’s experience in the field. This full-time position offers 37.5 hours of work per week, requiring a commitment to ongoing professional development and collaboration within a dedicated team.

We are looking for individuals committed to strength-based, person focused care to join our team as an Addiction Counsellor. The successful candidate will work as part of the Addictions Services staff treatment team. Addiction Counsellors work intensively with program participants, meeting with participants in the office, via phone or videoconferencing. Counsellors are required to assess complex situations and make appropriate decisions under pressure with minimal supervision. Community Counseling is a community-based addiction treatment program providing individual and group counseling. Counsellors will conduct intake, assessment, referral and treatment planning. Counsellors will create individualized treatment plans with participants to address their goals.
This is a 1 year, full-time contract position from January 26, 2026 to January 25, 2027. This position offers full-time hours; 37.5 hours per week. Schedule Monday to Friday, generally daytime hours, with one (1) evening shift per week. Full G class driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle required. Successful completion of a Police Records Check (Vulnerable Sector) required pre-employment.

At House of Friendship all compensation ranges are categorized under a series of "grades" and we base our payment structure on internal equity. When determining rate of pay, a candidate’s past related experience will be taken into consideration.
