What will your typical day look like?
  • Take the lead on actuarial consulting projects for Canadian life and health insurers, from model development and pricing to valuation, risk management, and insurance audits.
  • Inspire and mentor a talented team of actuaries and analysts, ensuring top‑quality work.
  • Collaborate with audit teams, bringing actuarial expertise to insurance audit engagements—reviewing liabilities, validating models, and discussing with senior leaders.
  • Be a trusted advisor to clients, guiding them through complex regulatory requirements and supporting capital management, reinsurance, and actuarial governance.
  • Develop and refine actuarial models and methodologies that set industry standards and deliver real value to clients.
  • Communicate insights and recommendations through engaging presentations and reports to senior client stakeholders.
  • Build strong client relationships, spot new opportunities, and play a key role in business development and proposal creation.
  • Team up with other Deloitte service lines—such as audit, assurance, and consulting—to deliver integrated, solutions‑driven results for clients.
  • Stay ahead of the curve by monitoring Canadian insurance industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging risks.
  • Contribute to Deloitte’s collaborative culture by sharing knowledge, supporting internal training, and championing quality assurance initiatives.
  • Stay current with technical and industry developments—including Insurtech, Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning, Generative AI, and Advanced Analytics.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to personal learning and development; act as a brand ambassador to attract top talent.
About the team

The Canadian Actuarial team of 70+ professionals (across Life, Property & Casualty, and Pensions) is part of Deloitte’s worldwide actuarial network, which includes over 1,000 actuarial professionals in 43 countries.

Enough about us, let’s talk about you
  • A Bachelor’s degree from a leading university in Actuarial Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or Data Science, with actuarial exams in progress. Master’s degree holders are also welcomed.
  • Professional actuarial designation (e.g., ASA, ACIA, or equivalent).
  • Minimum 3 years of actuarial experience in Canadian life and/or health insurance, with at least 1‑2 years in a consulting or managerial role.
  • Experience supporting insurance audit engagements is an asset.
  • Proficient mastery of life & health actuarial modelling software such as Moody’s AXIS, Moody’s Risk Integrity, Aon Pathwise, and FIS Prophet.
  • Technology skills such as Python, Databricks, Alteryx, Tableau, Visual Basic, and R are an asset.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills.
  • Proven ability to deliver complex actuarial projects and manage multiple client engagements.
  • In‑depth understanding of Canadian life & health insurance products, regulatory frameworks (OSFI, AMF), IFRS reporting standards, US statutory standards, and market practices.
  • Proficient in English. French verbal and written communication skills would be considered an asset.
Total Rewards

The salary range for this position is $93,000 - $158,000, and individuals may be eligible to participate in our bonus program.
