Position Overview

Multiple Actuarial Analyst I positions are available within the GI Pricing and Profitability team. As an Actuarial Analyst I, you will assist in implementing and delivering pricing strategies to achieve business objectives. Reporting to the Actuarial Manager, the Actuarial Analyst I is expected to demonstrate a high level of curiosity, strong ability and willingness to learn, and a commitment to contributing to the team's mandate.

Responsibilities
1. Regional Auto (ON, QC, WP) or Residential Pricing
  • Learn to update pricing algorithm to support business objectives toward profitability and growth
  • Participate in pricing strategy discussion and assist with implementation
  • Support regulatory filing preparation, where required
2. Pricing Optimization
  • Assist in building models and applying optimization techniques to recommend premium adjustments
  • Learn to track the performance of deployed strategies and identify areas for improvement
3. Financial Performance
  • Assist in tracking and reporting financial performance of pricing strategies
  • Learn to apply financial projection and pricing concepts
4. Risk Sharing Pool (RSP) Strategy and Performance
  • Assist in centralizing and optimizing RSP cession strategy
  • Learn to analyze cession results and pool performance and their impact on business objectives
5. Private Client Advice (PCA)
  • Assist in tracking profitability of the PCA Book of business
  • Gain exposure to complex risk and special coverage needs
  • Assist in calculating premiums for special coverage needs
6. Affinity Market Group (AMG)
  • Help review and update group discounts and understand AMG's impact on business objectives
  • Support monitoring of affinity group profitability
  • Assist in updating AMG profit-sharing programs
7. Initiatives & Governance
  • Support internal product and pricing initiatives from the initial business case to rate filings
  • Contribute to the development of our Bias and Fairness pillar to ensure our pricing strategies reflect these principles
Job Requirements
  • University degree in Actuarial Science or related field
  • Knowledge of Excel
  • Proficiency or interest for programming, notably with SQL and R
  • Strong aptitude for team work
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of predictive modeling
  • Working through actuarial professional examination
