Job summary

Manulife Montreal is seeking an actuarial professional to provide support for defined benefits pension plans, performing mathematical calculations and data preparation for reports. You will work in a small team and contribute to recurring or ad hoc analyses while ensuring regulatory compliance and accuracy.

Qualifications

  • Actuarial degree in actuarial studies, math, or related field.
  • Experience in defined benefit plan administration/consultation is a strong asset.
  • Knowledge of defined benefit plan design.
  • Strong Excel knowledge; Visual Basic is an asset.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Access is an asset.
  • Strong attention to details.
  • Bilingual in French and English, written and spoken.

Job description

To be successful in this role, the incumbent must provide professional actuarial support. Performs actuary-related duties of a mathematical nature. Compiles and categorizes data for experience analysis and provides support in the preparation of related reports.

Position Responsibilities
  • Perform actuarial and administrative mandates related to defined benefits pension plans.
  • Working in a small team of three individuals and under close supervision of a fellow actuary, provides support to and participates in the execution of recurring and/or ad hoc reports and other actuarial duties by performing standard mathematical calculations as directed and in adherence to standards, plan texts and government regulations.
  • Performs simple analysis and participates in actuarial studies.
  • Proactively acquires knowledge of tools, policies, processes, products and the business environment.
  • Collabora on special projects, as directed. May lead the execution of simple mandates.
  • Identifies and reports weaknesses and applies controls to mitigate financial and operational risks. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
Required Qualifications
  • University degree in Actuarial studies, Mathematics or related fields.
  • Work experience in defined benefit plan administration/consultation is a strong asset
  • Knowledge of defined benefit plan design.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel (knowledge of Visual Basic an asset).
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Access an asset.
  • Strong attention to details.
  • Bilingual, French and English, written and spoken.

Salary range is expected to be between

$52,650.00 CAD - $87,750.00 CAD

Employees also have the opportunity to participate in incentive programs and earn incentive compensation tied to business and individual performance. The actual salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training.
