Job summary

Robertson, Eadie & Associates, a subsidiary of People Corporation, is seeking a Retirement Actuarial Analyst in Burlington, Ontario to prepare pension calculations, analyses, and reports for defined benefit and defined contribution plans. You will work with actuaries and pension consultants to support valuations and regulatory processes.

The role requires a university degree in Actuarial Science or Mathematics and Statistics, plus proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Qualifications

  • University degree in Actuarial Science or Mathematics and Statistics.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong time management and ability to set priorities under deadlines.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment and independently.
  • Strong communication, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
  • Progress toward an actuarial designation is a plus, bilingualism is a bonus.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare annual pension statements, member reconciliations and fund reconciliations.
  • Calculate Pension Adjustments and determine increases to pensions-in-pay.
  • Assist with day-to-day administrative tasks and preparation of pension documentation.
  • Support regulatory processes including pension adjustment reversals and information returns.
  • Perform actuarial valuations and draft professional reports and correspondence.
  • Assist with special projects.

Job description

Reporting to the Principals, Robertson, Eadie & Associates, the Retirement Actuarial Analyst prepares pension calculations, analysis, and reports for defined benefit and defined contribution pension plans while working directly with actuaries and pension consultants.

Key Responsibilities
  • Complete year-end tasks such as preparing annual pension statements, member reconciliations and fund reconciliations
  • Calculating Pension Adjustments
  • Determining increases to pensions-in-pay
  • Assist in day-to-day administrative tasks including calculation of pension benefits for retirement, termination, death or marriage breakdown under various types of plans and preparation of pension documentation for clients and plan members in accordance with pension plan provisions and provincial legislation
  • Assist in the regulatory processes such as preparing quarterly pension adjustment reversals and annual information returns
  • Perform complex calculations and assist with preparation of actuarial valuations of pension plans and post-retirement and post-employment benefit plans
  • Draft professional reports and correspondence
  • Assist with special projects
Required Qualifications
  • A university degree in Actuarial Science or Mathematics and Statistics
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Time management skills and the ability to set priorities when faced with competing deadlines
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced team environment but also efficient when working independently
  • Good communication and organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Strong client focus and professional acumen
Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with actuarial valuation software
  • ProVal
  • Progression towards an actuarial designation
  • Bilingualism (French and English)

The base salary range for this position is between $60,000 - $80,000 annually. This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc). The actual base salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training. If you are selected to move forward in our recruitment process, the Talent Acquisition Specialist will be able to provide additional details of the total compensation for this role.
