Job summary

Kindera Living is seeking an Activity Aide (Part-Time) to support recreation programming and person-centered activities for residents. The role focuses on meaningful engagement, dignity, and emotion-based care in a compassionate senior living environment.

You will collaborate with the Recreation Manager to plan activities, assist residents to participate, and help maintain a safe, stimulating program area. Prior experience with seniors is valued.

Qualifications

  • Ability to read, write and understand English
  • Highly organized and able to work independently
  • Must enjoy working with the elderly in a setting that promotes optimum independence, dignity and respect
  • Ability to use your imagination to engage others
  • Must have high energy and a sense of fun
  • Ability to lift up to 15 lbs
  • Ability to have meaningful engagements with others
  • A college diploma in leisure services an asset
  • Clear vulnerable sector screening (within last 6 months), recent TB test results (within last 6 months) or Chest X-Ray (within last 1 yr), and two supervisory references required
  • Experience in or a willing interest to engage with using music in care would be an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Implementation and evaluation of resident’s levels of dementia.
  • Mental health and younger population programming leadership skills.
  • Willingness to make meaningful connections with residents.
  • Know how to and demonstrate evidence of increasing an individual's well-being and meeting residents where they are at.
  • Organize supplies and equipment as needed
  • Set up program area as needed
  • Keep attendance and document Resident participation in activities
  • Encourage Residents to attend programs
  • Assist residents to and from programs
  • Meet an individual’s physical and personal care needs to a high quality standard and with sensitivity
  • Any and all other tasks as assigned

Recreation Aide reports to the Recreation Manager and is expected to demonstrate commitment to resident well-being while focusing on emotion based person centered care by implementing high-quality activities in accordance with the organization's vision and mission.
