Job summary

Cogir Senior Living is seeking an Activities Coordinator to plan, organize and implement meaningful programs for residents in collaboration with the General Manager. You will create monthly newsletters, maintain strong communication with residents and families, and participate in team meetings to ensure resident-centered activities.

The role requires empathy, patience, and the ability to work with seniors in a respectful environment.

Qualifications

  • Experience with seniors is an asset.
  • Energetic, compassionate person who enjoys working with the elderly.
  • Ability to demonstrate tact, empathy and patience with residents.
  • Must communicate in written and verbal form and maintain professional appearance.
  • Good computer skills are an asset.
  • Will have CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Vulnerable Sector Check or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning, organizing and implementing meaningful programs for residents with the General Manager.
  • Create monthly newsletters for residents.
  • Maintain effective communication with residents, families, and staff.
  • Respect and promote Resident Rights & Responsibilities.
  • Attend in-service education to stay informed on elderly care trends.
  • Participate in team meetings to plan programs reflecting residents' interests.
  • Transport residents in the facility vehicle to outings and events.
  • Work in a role of trust with vulnerable adults and uphold ethics and integrity.
  • Complete other duties as assigned by the General Manager.

Reporting to the General Manager, the Activities Coordinator assists in the planning, organization and implementation of meaningful programs for the residents in collaboration with the General Manager.

Key Responsibilities

  • To assist in the planning, organization and implementation of meaningful programs for the facility residents in collaboration with the General Manager;
  • To create monthly newsletters to be distributed to all residents;
  • To maintain effective communication and good relationships with residents, families, and staff in other departments;
  • To be aware of the Resident Rights & Responsibilities and endeavor to respect and promote it;
  • To attend in-service education in order to keep informed of current trends in the total care of the elderly;
  • To participate in team meetings to plan programs with the resident's interests in mind;
  • To transport residents in the facility vehicle to various scheduled locations, outings and events;
  • To work in a position of trust with vulnerable adults (residents);
  • To uphold and promote the organization's values and philosophy relating particularly to ethics, morality, and integrity;
  • To complete other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience working with seniors is considered an asset
  • An energetic, compassionate person who enjoys working with the elderly
  • Ability to demonstrate tact, empathy and patience by establishing and maintaining harmonious relationships with residents
  • Must be able to communicate in written and verbal form and maintain an acceptable standard of behaviour and appearance
  • Good computer skills are considered an asset
  • Will have proof of current, valid CPR and First Aid Certification
  • Enjoys working closely with team members and has a strong desire to provide our residents with a better quality of life
  • Must provide a complete and current (within six months) Vulnerable Sector Check (including a Criminal Background Check) or be willing to obtain one
