Job summary

Cogir Senior Living is seeking an Active Living Aide (Part Time) in Ottawa to support residents with engaging activities under the supervision of the Active Living Manager. The role involves planning, organizing, and evaluating daily activities at 2 Valley Stream Drive, Ottawa, ON.

You will assist with program planning, record-keeping, and collaboration with staff, families, and volunteers to enhance resident well-being. Strong communication and compassion are essential for this role.

Qualifications

• College diploma in Recreation, Leisure Studies, Gerontology or equivalent.
• Previous experience working with seniors.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• An energetic, compassionate person who enjoys working with the elderly.
• Must provide a complete and current Vulnerable Sector Check.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, organization and implementation of programs for residents, in collaboration with the Active Living Manager & Executive Director.
• Assist with maintenance of department records including assessments and evaluations of planned programs detailing participation, charting.
• Maintain effective communication with residents, families, volunteers and staff; inform them of current and upcoming events.
• Attend in-service education and participate in team meetings to plan activities.
• Facilitate residents to scheduled and pre-arranged outings; assist with meal services as required.
• Work in a position of trust with vulnerable adults (residents); support the front desk by providing break coverage for receptionists.
• Uphold and promote the organization’s values relating to ethics, morality, and integrity.
