The Corporation of the County of Huron’s Corporate Services department is seeking a full-time Accounts Payable Payroll Clerk !
Position Summary

Responsible for preparing accounts payable invoices and employee expense reports for payment, including allocation to appropriate accounts, obtaining the proper authorization for payment and verification that the goods invoiced were received in good condition. This position is also responsible for providing effective support to Accounts Receivable, County Reception and Payroll, including processing bi-weekly payroll for all County staff.

  • Accurate and timely processing of invoices
  • Process employee expenses for Corporation, in accordance with Corporate Policy.
  • Corporate Visa reconciliation and payment.
  • Analyze and prepare corporate distribution of billings for approval and payment.
  • Monthly payroll account reconciliations, reporting and analysis for accounts payable and payroll
  • Investigate stale dated cheques for cancellation or reissue.
  • Provide support to Accounts Payable designates.
  • Reconcile vendor statements to ensure accuracy.
  • Accurately prepare Journal Entries with supporting documentation for approval.
  • Monitor accounts payable email account, handling inquiries and distributing invoices to appropriate departments for processing. Secondary monitor for accounts receivable, administration, and payroll accounts.
  • Filing and organizing files
  • Assisting with yearend audit working paper preparation and samples
  • Ability to read and understand Council Policies and Non-Union Policies
  • Effectively communicate with the public in a professional and tactful manner
  • Other duties as assigned from time to time.

Be able to provide effective backup and regular support to perform the following duties:

  • Processing bi-weekly payroll for County staff
  • Review and assessment of edits to control accuracy of payroll and benefit information prior to finalizing and issuing pay within established deadlines and schedules.
  • Preparation of governmental payroll remittances and records of employment
  • Assist with processing OMERS reporting for leaves, retirements, and new hires.
  • Perform duties of primary OMERS agent for the County
  • Creating cash receipts and preparing deposits
  • County reception – in-person, phone, email
Qualifications and Education
  • Equivalent to completion of 2-year Business Accounting, Business Administration or Office Administration Diploma at a community college
  • Experience and proficiency in use of MS Office software – including work, Adobe and advanced excel skills.
  • Familiarity with paperless processes and internal control requirements
  • Experience in a union and non-union payroll environment
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and reconciling skills
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects and tasks, meet deadlines and work under pressure.
  • Ability to deal courteously and effectively with departmental and corporate contacts at all levels
Competitive Compensation
  • $30.67 – $35.89 per hour; as per 2025 non-union pay grid
  • Paid time off
