A leading provider of vertical farm solutions in Ottawa is seeking an Accounts Officer for a full-time, 9-month contract. The successful candidate will support day-to-day finance operations, manage accounts payable/receivable, and contribute to financial efficiency during a growth phase. This is a hybrid role requiring 1-2 days in the Ottawa office per week, offering a competitive salary of $48,000-$53,000 per annum.

By partnering with municipalities, First Nation and Indigenous communities, Tribal Nations, and other community organizations in Canada and the USA, we empower year‑round sustainable food production and strengthen food sovereignty. Our holistic approach includes planning solutions, food infrastructure, commissioning support, training programs, capacity‑building programs (such as our popular “Rootcamp”), and ongoing support services—enabling communities to achieve lasting impact. Your primary responsibility will be to support day‑to‑day finance operations for the company and its subsidiaries—owning accounts payable/receivable, bank and credit card reconciliations and employee expense processing. Reporting directly to the Finance Manager and working closely with the Intermediate Company Accountant, this role will play a vital role within the organization and advance Growcer’s financial efficiency.
As the finance team is small, the expectation of this role will be to support the Growcer team in a variety of tasks relating to finance, responding to financial requests from across the organization and general administration. This individual must be meticulous with a strong attention to detail to underpin the finance function during a phase of accelerated growth for the organization. You will thrive in this role if you enjoy performing a wide range of duties, are willing to learn and grow within this role and are comfortable being a team member who will be relied upon to manage and process information and transactions efficiently and accurately.
The Growcer recently received funding to support a nine‑month contract through the Science Horizons program. Science Horizons program creates opportunities for interns to work with employers in the environmental science, technology, engineering and mathematics sectors.
