Job summary

MNP is seeking an Accounting Technician to join its Tax team in Canada. You will assist with tax engagements, prepare personal and corporate tax returns, and collaborate with clients and government agencies to ensure compliance. Travel may be required as part of client service.

The role emphasizes accurate tax filings, engagement support, and use of accounting and tax software within a dynamic, regulatory environment.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary degree or certificate in accounting or another relevant field.
• Experience in accounting, customer service and/or client service environment is preferred.
• Experience in financial statement analysis and preparation of tax returns is considered an asset.
• Working knowledge of the Canadian Income Tax Act.
• Experience working with accounting and tax software is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the completion of tax engagements by computing taxes owed, preparing personal and corporate tax returns (and other compliance slips), preparing year-end tax forms (T4s and T5s), calculating and reviewing share capital.
• Set up files for new clients and newly incorporated businesses
• Prepare journal entries and provide bookkeeping services
• Review legal documents such as articles of incorporation, purchase agreements and amalgamation agreements
• Identify issues and errors, investigate discrepancies and discuss with managers or engagement partners to develop resolutions
• Correspond with clients and various government agencies to address client tax compliance issues
• Assist in the preparation of correspondence, technical reports, client summaries and presentations outlining engagement findings, facts and highlights
• Work collaboratively with the client engagement team
• Maintain flexibility to travel, as necessary

The annual salary range for this position is $40,000 - $60,000.
