Job summary

MNP is seeking an Accounting Technician, Agriculture to join the Assurance & Accounting team. You will assist with bookkeeping, tax engagements, and month-end closes while supporting government filings and client services.

The role offers growth in a Canadian firm renowned for its entrepreneurial culture. Ideal candidates hold an accounting certificate or degree and have up to 2 years of experience, with knowledge of T4s/T5s and tax basics.

Qualifications

• Accounting certificate or bachelor’s degree in commerce or business administration (accounting or finance major asset)
• Entry level to 2 years of relevant accounting experience
• Experience preparing T4s and T5s; knowledge of personal and corporate tax preferred
• Working knowledge of basic accounting principles; accounting software experience an asset (Sage, QuickBooks, Agexpert)
• Experience with AgriStability or AgriInvest is an asset

Responsibilities

• Assist with compilation, review, bookkeeping and tax engagements
• Prepare and maintain government remittances/filings, accounts receivable, expenses, accounts payable and payroll transactions
• Set-up client files, assist with budgets and administrative planning
• Perform the month-end and quarter-end close process
• Maintain and reconcile GL accounts including cash, bank reconciliations, prepaid expenses, AR/AP, accrued liabilities, intercompany and POS/uploads
• Identify issues and discrepancies and discuss resolutions with managers/partners
• Communicate with government regarding information requests, assessments and installments
• Work collaboratively with the client engagement team
• Travel flexibility as necessary

Responsibilities

• Identify issues and errors, investigate discrepancies and discuss with managers or engagement partners to develop resolutions
• Communicate with the government regarding information requests, assessments and installments
• Work collaboratively with the client engagement team
• Maintain flexibility to travel, as necessary

Skills And Experience

• Accounting certificate or bachelor’s degree in commerce or business administration (accounting or finance major is considered an asset)
• Entry level to 2 years of relevant accounting experience
• Experience preparing T4s and T5s and knowledge of personal and corporate tax is preferred
• Working knowledge of basic accounting principles and processes is considered an asset
• Experience working with accounting and tax software is considered an asset; including programs like Sage, QuickBooks, and/or Agexpert
• Experience working with AgriStability or AgriInvest is considered an asset
