A leading wealth management firm is seeking an Accounting Technician to manage trust accounts and daily processes in a dynamic environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Finance or Accounting and a comprehensive understanding of the Mutual Fund industry. Responsibilities include managing daily wire processes, reconciling bank accounts, and maintaining communication with financial institutions. This full-time position offers a competitive salary between $40,400 - $54,700 annually.

Qualifications

  • Familiarity with MFDA rules and regulations.
  • Preference for candidates with working knowledge of Quadrus’ business processes.
  • Ability to recognize when to escalate issues.

Responsibilities

  • Process daily Quadrus EFT rejects & return entries.
  • Manage daily QDS process for accuracy and completeness of net deposit.
  • Correspond with Quadrus Trust and Settlement to resolve issues.
  • Process daily bank transfers and allocation of funds.
  • Manage daily wire processes ensuring accuracy.
  • Daily reconciliation of Quadrus Trust bank accounts.
  • Review bank account statements daily.

Investment Planning Counsel (IPC) is one of Canada’s leading independent wealth management firms. In November 2023, Canada Life acquired IPC, and together with Canada Life’s existing wealth platforms, we now form one of Canada’s leading wealth providers.

Reporting to the Assistant Manager of Accounting, IPC, the Accounting Technician works in a fast‑paced environment with responsibilities in Wealth Operations. The role includes the reconciliation of Canadian and USD trust accounts, daily wire processing, and various Quadrus platform tasks. Strong Knowledge of the Mutual Fund industry, Quadrus policies and procedures, and a background in Finance or Accounting are required.

What You Will Do
  • Processing daily Quadrus EFT rejects & return entries for SEG and Mutual plans
  • Managing the daily QDS process ensuring accuracy and completeness of net deposit
  • Corresponding with Quadrus Trust and Settlement / Client Cash Management to investigate and resolve issues with daily QDS and trust account reconciliations
  • Processing daily bank transfers and allocation of funds
  • Managing the Quadrus daily wire processes ensuring accuracy and completeness
  • Daily reconciliation of 6 Quadrus Trust bank accounts, escalating issues/outages as required
  • Daily review of bank account statements
  • Provide backup for other team members as required
What You Will Bring
  • Understanding of the Mutual Fund and Segregated Fund Industries
  • Post‑secondary education, preferably with a background in Finance or Accounting
  • Familiarity with MFDA rules and regulations
  • Preference for candidates with working knowledge of Quadrus’ business processes
  • Excellent time‑management skills with a proven ability to meet multiple daily deadlines
  • Strong organizational skills and keen attention to detail
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to recognize when to escalte issues
  • Professional and approachable with an emphasis on collaborative working relationships

The base salary for this position is between $40,400 - $54,700 annually. This represents base salary only and does not include other variable compensation components of our total rewards program.
